Is “The Secret of Us” the New Thai GL Classic?
As Thailand’s first-ever GL series produced by a national TV network, The Secret of Us is more than just a drama—it’s a quiet milestone.Despite its compact 8-episode format, the story hits surprisingly deep emotional notes. Based on the novel “Jai Sorn Ruk / Heart-Hidden Love” by Meenarm, the series streamlines the original plot while retaining its romantic core. Some fans might feel it skipped a few novel details, but the powerful acting more than makes up for it.
What truly stands out is the chemistry between the two leads. From the heartbreaking hospital breakup to the fairytale wedding ending, their dynamic feels raw, real, and deeply moving. Episode 4’s drunken confession scene is a fan favorite for a reason—it’s intimate, vulnerable, and beautifully scored.
The finale delivers what many GL dramas shy away from: a joyful, unapologetic celebration of queer love. The kiss, the gowns, the vows—it all feels earned.
And the best part? The lead couple is returning in a new series, Only You, premiering in mid-2025. I wrote a full review with more scene breakdowns and adaptation notes here:
