I understand why it might be easier for an international audience but I really wish Iqiyi didn't localize all of Jiang Xuening's nicknames to just 'Ning'. Yan Lin calls her Ningning which is more affectionate than just Ning. Same thing with Jiang Xuehui, her parents call her Hui'er and not Hui.
Obviously not a big deal but I feel like the nuance is lost in translation when it doesn't have to be in this case.
So , ep1- we saw a scene in the start bailu was writing a story that's we're seeing and she said to someone on…
I haven't read the novel but a commenter below said that it was just to get around censorship (which doesn't allow reincarnation plots iirc). Doesn't add anything to the plot.
originally 54? was it cut due to censorship or something :(
I'm not sure why SOKP was cut down but there's a regulation that dramas can be no longer than 40 episodes. The government implemented it fairly recently to discourage producers from fluffing up a drama just to get more ad money. Originally, dramas like The Blue Whisper, Love Like the Galaxy, and Immortal Samsara were able to bypass this rule by splitting the drama into 2 seasons and airing the second season immediately after the first. Then, because of how these dramas took advantage of this little loophole, the government made it so that dramas with 2 seasons had to wait at least 6 months (might be wrong on the exact time frame) to air the second season. It's why Lost You Forever has only aired the first season so far even though the drama is already complete. I believe the second season will air later this year or some time next year.
Other dramas like TTEOTM were originally supposed to have 2 seasons but because of the added stipulation of needing to wait to air the second season, they ended up cutting it down by a significant amount. It's unfortunate because TTEOTM really suffered from the cuts. Hopefully that won't be the case with SOKP if it was indeed cut.
I really didn’t expect this! The costume and hairstyle look pretty plain. The lighting and visual look really…
I'm glad that they didn't go too heavy with the skin smoothing and white filters. Every idol drama uses them these days so I appreciate being able to see some actual skin texture. Everyone looks much better here imo
Is it safe to skip all of the business jargon/scenes? They're quite dry so I'd prefer to fast forward through them if they don't affect the plot or the main couple's relationship.
I am not sure how you came to those conclusions. He received a lot of hate and just clarified that he did not…
I haven't gotten the opportunity to watch the livestream yet, so I assumed that what I was seeing from others was true. That's my bad, I don't mean to spread misinformation. I'll edit my comment accordingly until I can listen for myself.
Throwing his co-star under the bus? Which part? Or did you just believe all the Google trans?
I haven't gotten a chance to watch the livestream myself today so I've been going off of summaries/recaps from different accounts on Twitter. I've seen a lot of hate on Weibo as a result of this, so I assumed they were true. I do apologize if I've gotten something wrong though, it isn't my intention to spread misinformation. Could you point me to a more accurate recap about this? I would appreciate it. Of course, I'll listen to the livestream myself later as well.
Edit: My original comment was just me expressing disappointment with LYN's alleged comments about this production, how it left a bad taste in my mouth that he was throwing Lusi under the bus, etc. This is apparently not true and his words have been mistranslated so I've deleted my original comment to avoid spreading misinformation about him until I can listen to what he said myself.
Regardless, I think it's fair to say that ZLS and LYN have both been on the receiving end of a lot of hate because of this production. LYN absolutely has the right to speak up for himself, but it's unfortunate that his words have been used by netizens to slander Lusi. Let's just hope that there's a smooth filming period for them both.
The fact that the production team has not put anything out does not mean there is no crew no cast members or whatever,…
Lusi is from Galaxy Cool/KU Entertainment. It's a pretty small company iirc, I think she's their only big star.
Personally, I'd like to see her set up her own studio after her contract ends since she'd have more freedom in the projects she chooses. I'd imagine that she'd have an easier time pulling out of problematic productions like this too.
From what I read it has nothing to do with LYN. cfans are upset with the production company in particular Lusi’s…
It's a combination of: the project being pushed back multiple times (lusi hasn't been able to film any other dramas for 8 months because of this project), not confirming who the ML was for months and allowing melon/gossip accounts to speculate and slander Lusi, having a director with a poor track record, the original stylist getting kicked, etc
Nothing to do with LYN at all. I think a lot of cfans are actually very excited about the pairing, they've just been let down by the production company.
Now if only they'll change the official English name 💀
Nothing inherently wrong with it, I just find it tacky. I think they could have gone with something more unique and memorable when there are already so many "The Legend of ____" dramas out there. Even then I'd rather have "The Legend of Duanwu" or something instead of jewellery.
I am glad that they didn't force "love" in there though lol
Omg! yass watch! it was amazing and 2nd couple ( lusi and Yuning) stole the damn show for me in terms of romance
Both her and Haodu (LYN's character) have great character development in this one. One of the few dramas where I actually prefer the 2nd couple to the main couple. Definitely give it a try!
Zhao Lusi & Liu Yuning confirmed! Can't say I'm a fan of what the production team has been doing thus far but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this pairing again! Filming starts November 21.
I heard about the stylist being forced to quit but damn, has the entire production really been cancelled?
That's more than fair, I would do the same but it hasn't been confirmed that this drama is cancelled, right?
I don't think I've ever seen a production this messy before. Do you know when Lusi's contract with her company ends? They don't seem to do much to protect her :/
They are just adding everyone that is rumored to be in it
All rumours at the moment. No one, not even Lusi, has been confirmed yet. The only difference is that Lusi has been attached to this project for a while now by several reputable melon accounts while the MLs seem to change every few days lol. We had Lin Yi, Chen Fei Yu, Liu Yuning, Qu Chuxiao, Liu Yuning again, and more in the last couple months.
I really thought Qu Chuxiao would stick after seeing some fairly accurate melon accounts reporting it but I guess we'll see in a few weeks. Take ALL melon accounts with a grain of salt, of course.
Wow great! Is jewellery meant to be spelt will just one "L" and only two "E's" as put up on here? Is it spelt…
I believe it uses the US variant "Jewelry" . The display photo is blurry but the one uploaded here https://twitter.com/risti_ic/status/1704317062297051286 is a bit clearer. If you look underneath the first character 珠 it says The Legend of Jewelry.
I lowkey hate the title 🥹. If they want to use the "Legend of ____" format that's fine but I'd rather it be "The Legend of Duanwu" or something instead of jewelry. For how poetic the original Chinese titles tend to be they really love making some basic sounding English titles lol.
It's the same screenwriter as Mysterious Lotus Casebook + Love and Redemption so hopefully we get a good story! Ideally with less misunderstandings than L&R lol
