ok!.... i thought i was gonna be blown away by the story since it has insane rating!!but while i kept watching…
you had high expectations that's why, if you didn't have high expectations you wouldn't have felt like that...I watched this drama when it was ongoing and then it wasn't even rated this high on MDL, not even close to it..it gained popularity the moment it hit Netflix...and when I watched it then, it was the best drama I had watched in a while..even till now I can definitely tell you it is still the best drama... you would ask why, and even if you don't, I'll tell you.
the acting was what did the trick...I had first watch Lee joon gi in scarlet heart and liked his acting then and decided to give this a watch...It was my second drama of him so of course I don't really have much expectations of anything and I had never seen moon chae won acting before...but when I watched flower of evil with these two main characters, it was more than a drama for me...I felt like I was actually witnessing something real...the acting was so good...I cried in every episode...the characters were portrayed well.
sometimes you don't need a complicated story for a drama to be rated high...even twisted dramas like penthouse aren't rated this high..
you have to factor everything when watching a drama and believe me, if you don't have high expectations for something, you would actually enjoy it better than when you nitpick at everything they do trying to judge if it really deserves the fame it gets or not.
the funny thing is, it was actually considered as an underrated drama when it came out... don't judge a drama by its ratings

I think y'all are just toxic especially the XL fans...I am a fan of both TSJ and XL, infact I wish she could end up with both and I'm fine with any...but logically, TSJ didn't affect her mentally, he didn't hide anything from her, whatever the situation was, he made mention to her, he tried his best, but too much was at stake, I was mad at him but if I looked at it from his perspective, there wasn't much to be done and I don't think he made her character look little or not strong. XL also didn't affect her character or won't affect her character, he also has a lot at stake, why do you think he didn't push forward and tell her that he loves her, TSJ was the first to admit his feelings, XL had a chance because she loves him too but he didn't...if we are going to be realistic.
