jin yang cheol is such an interesting character! to be honest, i'd prefer him to be the only main character here without SJK (although i really like him)
I wish Comrade Joo and Boon Ok had more interactions. Personally, I think they have more chemistry than the main couple, although I did like Soo Ho and Young Ro in the first half of the drama. And to my amazement, I was more emotionally invested in Boon Ok despite everything she's done, probably because of Hye Yoon's exceptional acting. I was also enjoying Hae In's acting, he was incredible. The drama itself isn't great, and the second half is especially boring, but overall I like it
I watched the first episode and LOVED the first 15 minutes with the crime stuff in Italy, but when he went back…
There are many intense scenes, but comedy also plays a big role here. I would say that some episodes are more dark/serious and some are more humorous. In general, every episode has both serious and comedic elements. It's a good mix of everything. I do think that comedy gets better as the story progresses but it's a matter of taste, of course.
Is Chief Kim and Fiery Priest as good as this? As funny? All the side characters are so so funny and they all…
I haven't watched Chief Kim yet (but I'm planning to do it), but I've completed FP recently. It's a great drama although it might seem a little bit boring at first. It has a lot of annoying characters, but they get better as the story progresses. I didn't like a portrayal of Russians there, but otherwise it was a great mix of comedy, action and drama. Definitely recommend it! But personally, I find Vincenzo more fascinating :)
I'd recommend you to watch the first 4 episodes (or at least fast forward them if you don't have time). If you feel like you don't like it after watching these episodes, then it's probably not your cup of tea :)
I'm currently watching a canadian show called Burden of Truth, which is a law drama and before it I used to think…
Although I'm genuinely enjoying Vincenzo, I agree with you about Korean law dramas being the same. The plot is always about revenge. The only exception from law dramas I've watched so far is "The Good Wife", which is basically a remake of American show
8.5/10 for me. The first 8 episodes were great, the next 7 were fine and the last ones were quite mediocre. Still…
Sadly, the last episodes spoiled the overall impression. While the comedy is on top, the politics isn’t a strong side of this drama. All intrigues were quite obvious. As the last episodes were mainly focused on politics, I felt bored. The king is a good person, yet not a good politician.
Speaking of the main leads, I haven’t invested in them as much as I’d expected I would, so the ending wasn’t very disappointing for me. I like their relationships much more before they become romantic. After reading some comments here it seems I’m one of the few who liked BI. I wish he wasn’t so obsessive with the queen, though. I’m not going to justify his behaviour as some of his actions are too much. But he definitely doesn’t deserve to die in order to redeem himself. I feel sorry for him. And I don’t ship him with the SY as she clearly doesn’t love him the way he does. I also like HJ. The king treats her badly after falling in love with the queen. He basically forgets about her existence. I’m glad she has a good ending after all.
As for the queen, even after merging souls, I saw that it was mostly BH who controlled the queen’s body, not SY. SY are probably in control during very emotional scenes. For me BH and SY are completely different souls/personalities in one body, and I believe that king falls in love with BH’s personality, not SY’s. So I can understand why so many people find the ending disappointing and anticlimactic. Personally, I think that the king loves BH, and the only person who loves real SY was BI. Even though SY starts behaving more like BH, she is still a different person. If I'm not mistaken, spin-off shows that the king first falls in love with the queen before she becomes his wife (and BH). If so, I find it very unconvincing. The drama shows the opposite.
Speaking of acting, every actress and actor have done an excellent job in portraying their characters, especially Shin Hye Sun. She is amazing! I’m looking forward to seeing her future projects.
I like that Lee Young Hwa is so emotional. I don't see it often in dramas. And his chemistry with Seo Dan Ah is perfect. It's definitely one of the best dramas I've ever watched! :)
Mmm, yes, in general, there is a happy ending. The main couple gets its happiness towards the end, but it's definitely not a happy ending for Yan Yan's sisters. Everyone gets what they deserve, I would say.
