i can see why you'd say the MBM dynamic was based off external beauty, but as the series progressed, you can see they genuinely create such an emotional connection

i agree, "dishonest" is lowkey crazy so i apologize for that. but anyway, i was not making a 1:1 comparison between the shows, more like loose connections. OF COURSE i know that there are differences and that neither invented tropes

i'd also like to mention that i'm not the only one that's made this connection, meaning it's not baseless as you make it seem

I'm well aware that they aren't exactly the same, but denying that there are similarities is a bit dishonest. Even if the plots are quite different, there are certainly aspects of it that are reminiscent of MBM (e.g. their story starting in high school and continuing into their adult years, the "popular bully x loser servant" trope, the former bully borderline leeching off their love interest, the off-beat atmosphere, etc.) Like I said, they aren't totally the same, but they check a lot of the same boxes, many of which are rather rare for j-bl which is why I drew that comparison.

first episode was cute! i'm not usually into high school romances, but i'm looking forward to more episodes of this :)

GOATED SERIES GETTING A SEASON 2 AGHHHHHH

i'm only 1 episode in and i'm lowkey already debating dropping this 😭 i'm not loving the ml and i don't really have the patience to wait for the chemistry between the leads to get better...

i put off watching this for a while thinking it wouldn't be my vibe, but i finally gave it a chance last night and ended up liking it more than i expected. beautiful cinematography, interesting plot, chemistry between the leads was def there. my only complaint is that, despite being such a short show, it took me until like...episode 4 to actually care about the characters. a solid 7/10 tho (maybe a bonus 0.5 for that opening song)

edit: i'm quite curious about what the 2nd season will be about

this was fun! really enjoyed that :) i think any sensible person would've chosen tajima, but i'm not too mad at her final decision bc they had good chemistry anyway

i tried so many times to finish this show bc i like horinatsu, but i just can't get myself to get past like...ep 7. i don't even think the chemistry between the leads was that bad, but it was nowhere near good enough to keep me watching as it gets really boring towards the midway point. such a shame bc the beginning of the show was pretty enjoyable + i really liked the manga. criticism aside, masashi's acting was great!

I like the leads and I love the friendship between the firm's employees when they were working under Haruto, but after like episode 8 or something, I was either bored or frustrated at the characters. It's such a shame because it was off to a great start + I'm a sucker for workplace rom-coms (bonus points if it's set in a law firm.) I would've dropped the show if I didn't enjoy the first few episodes as much as I did.
