The original story was written by Jojo, which we have seen in the mock trailer. He wrote the story from Jim's perspective.
Only gmmtv and the director know why they changed the whole mood and story. Fans also noticed something about the leads and their relationship timelines after seeing the trailer, it seems there will be no cheating plot, as hinted in the mock. Well good news for cheating plot haters?
