Yeah in the trailer there are a lot hints to bl lovestory and they are past lovers so it must be like this^^ I read additional information on Soompi Forums.
And as to why i don't like many different ethnicities and cultures in one drama is 1.what bojinator already mentioned, the dubbing and 2. it just isn't harmonic for me then. All the countries/cultures have different style of acting and when they act in chinese drama it looks different from the chinese characters and when they try and use typical mimic and gestures of chinese style it looks awkward for me :)

Started watching it, I'm on ep.24 rn and all I can say is don't watch it! It not only waste of time the female lead is just too frustrating! Or you're a Hwaick fan so u would watch anything with him in. I enjoy his character here but only his character...
So I get the kang xi died at the end but what happened to wei lin lang? Did she die too?
Well if she died before or after him doesn't really matter...the whole end is too sad one way or another. I can't believe they lived near each other side by side without seeing each other... For me it was so sad, i wished that they would just both die (at the same time) like romeo and juliette ;(

Yes they married, the emperor gave her the title of a 'consort' or 'concubine' wich means she is one of many wifes.... I know it's not really what we call being married but it was so back then. The wifes have ranks and the one wife that gets a ceremony is only the empress. and she can't become an empress (only a princess can be)
the second half of the episode was very light and cute eventhiught they were on the deaths end some scenes before. I thought of course they wouldn't die but at least they will be struggling with wounds or how to survive until they're found...no they just enjoyed a nice outdoor date XD

Rang Ruo and Lin Lang spend their childhoos together and fell in love with each other but unfortunately had to seperate. Lin Lang entered the palace as a servant while Rang Ruo was always searching for her. While being a servant Lan Ling befriends the emperor 8without knowing he is the emperor) who also falls in love with her. Rang Ruo eventually finds Lan Ling and their love blooms again, while the emperor tries to earn her love and make her remember him from their childhood (they met a long time ago). And that's where the story starts. Oh and important to mention is that Rang ruo is the best frien of the emperor!
