I went back to watching this after starting it and dropping it multiple times. I regret that I didn't watch it sooner. I guess the beginning was a little slow because it doesn't start off with a bang. The story builds up and the ML is put into several situations that make him aware of his being poor. To make it worse, he is betrayed and hurt and then there are the issues of his parents and the growing debt. Now fast forward to the introduction of the golden spoon. I felt that the storyline was really good. We have this contrast of rich vs. poor and on both sides, there ae skeletons that have to be delt with. Being poor LSC has mounting debt but he also knows the love of his family and support of them as well. Being rich, he has money, power, connections and anything he may ask for with the exception of the love of his family. LSC chose money but mainly because he wanted to help his poor family and then return to them as the true LSC. On the other hand, HTY as LSC appreciates his family and choses to remain poor no matter the temptations. The drama is very thought provoking and I found myself thinking what would I do if I was put in a situation where I could switch my parents? For myself, I wouldn't because I love my family unconditionally, but if I was desperate enough, would I do it?
Overall I felt the drama was really good, so good that I didn't skip any parts. I just got bored with the love triangle parts but what is a drama without a good second male lead love interest. The ending did feel a bit rushed as I was really not understanding the story behind the fake father killing his son, I don't understand how he had the son in the first place. I didn't think it was necessary to kill off the poor dad either. He would have loved to see him rise up from the ashes of being poor. Moon Ki's ending was most fitting and when I tell you he killed his role. He was the manliest man in the entire show. A green flag as a friend and future husband. Finally, the one thing that truly confused me was Oh Yu Jin and why she would let her real dad be a part of her life. Plus her fake dad was very aware of the man being a convict but he let him take his grandchild out alone. That part truly confused me but I guess it was open ended to show that she got her karma by her child be sold off or held for ransom. Nevertheless, the drama is not easy to watch if your a sensitive person. It is however, entertaining and if can tolerate a few slow moving parts and you have to pay attention because there are some times where it can get confusing on who is who.

The emperor was just an awful person overall. He banished entire families just because he couldn't take criticism. He was greedy, ruthless and very selfish.
In my opinion, this was a very good C-drama. I appreciate that the writers made the FL's character intelligent, thoughtful, calculating, strong but vulnerable. The storyline was interesting and there was good character development throughout the episodes. The action scenes were fun to watch as well. The only complaint I would have about this drama was the ML's costumes. I really did not care for the curly ponytail hairstyle it just didn't work well with his role. Other than that, I loved the chemistry between the ML and FL. I appreciate that the writers included romance but still stuck to the main storyline. Overall, I felt that this was a well balanced drama that was engaging and fun to watch. It reminded me a lot of A New Life Begins but just not as funny.
Spoiler Alert!!! There is no revenge in this drama. It ends with a fizzle. So, I get that they had to kill off WJG. After all his crimes are revealed there was no point in keeping him alive and he had no remorse for what he did, but KSR. She should not have gotten such a simple send off. I would have loved to see her begging JDJ for forgiveness after finding out the truth. Also, the uncle just walks away with no punishment, he was part of the hit and run and kidnapping plot and should have been caught. All in all, the ending was lackluster. The one thing I did like was the ending for Ji Hoon. He didn't miraculously get cured. He also went to prison as did BSC for his role in DJ's dad's death. That was the only great part about the whole drama. There was some character development for the both. Anyway, it has been a good ride. I hope the writers will really put some effort into their next drama. It seems like in makjangs, the writers start to give up on making things interesting after the first 50 episodes.
I think that it was worth the watch until you get to the more recent episodes. The last few weeks have been terrible.
The biggest problem is that the writers should have took those 10 extra episodes to close some other storylines. For example, they could have taken the time to let some evidence that was presumed lost to resurface to include characters like the orphanage director and the uncle. There is the stolen project that DJ was working on and the fact that KSR drugged her. They could have made the chairman go bankrupt by exposing the story of how he covered up the moldy ramen. Then there is Ha Rin, she completely dropped out of the picture. The writers introduced yet another plot when they could have be closing thing out.
And what happened to the orphanage director? where is she hiding?will the employee that helped KSR poison DJ go…
I fast forwarded through the most recent episode. I have to agree. KSR is his Secretary now? I hope he is playing her as well. Otherwise, he will get the reward for being the dumbest person out there.
im becoming more confused than when i first started this show. and how have we gone a whole 7 months with no persecution…
I think the writers have been so busy making the villians win that they forgot about the revenge part and will end up squeezing a subpar revenge aspect in the last two or three episodes. Sadly, the drama is so outrageous right now that it is hard to follow.
And what happened to the orphanage director? where is she hiding?will the employee that helped KSR poison DJ go…
I agree with you. They introduced so many characters and incidents that happened with nothing resolved. When oh when are KSR and AeJa going to learn the truth about who killed KSR's dad? The writers need to step up their game and tie up the loose ends.
If the writers read this, please note that some of your viewers are quite disappointed in this drama. You have four episodes to make this drama make sense to us all. We came here to see revenge and a redemption but we are getting a clown show instead. Did the writers just give up after having to extend for an additional 10 episodes? Make some of this stuff make sense.
Why would Mr. Kim go back to being WJG's goon after he was beaten and bagged up and left to drown? What happen to the Uncle that was helping KSR and AeJa, it is like he just disappeared from the script. Why would a purse just randomly show up on a tv show. So Ji Hoon that absolutely hates KSR is suddenly going to accept her into his life? Even after knowing every terrible thing she has done to KSR? Ma Ri is just going to sit there and let KSR cuddle up to Ji Hoon even though she is supposedly pregnant with her son's child? Again, it doesn't make sense. Then you have AeJa a wanted fugitive becoming a masked singer. Can we say just plain dumb. Don't get me started on the terrible disguises that JDJ and Ms. Yang are wearing. I just can't! Then we have gangster wanna be WJG who is now trying to build a casino. The writers couldn't come up with anything better than a casino. He went from owning a food company to a crime lord.
FOUR more episodes writers, please make it worth the watch.
So the writer add on another 12 episodes just to give us an extra crap to show us more chaotic , an endless villains…
I agree. This drama was actually pretty good when it was on 122 episodes. It seems like the extra 10 episodes where episodes filled with a little of the plot but a lot of nonsense.
Looks like Mr Kim is setting Yohan up in exchange for “loyalty” to WJG or set a realistic trap to lure WJG…
I found it funny when KSR said she had to win back Ji Hoon’s love when she never had it in the first place. Hopefully he doesn’t take her back and just uses her to put her where she belongs, in jail. WJG is living the thug life but has no idea it is all about to come crashing down. If Mr. Kim really did betray Yo Han, he is just as bad as WJG. But, he will get caught by the police and will rat out everything that WJG has done. I am really curious as to how the writers are to reveal to the two witches that WJG was the one who killed KSR’s dad. Sadly, KSR is so delusional and obsessed that she would probably blame KSR for WJG killing her dad even though they were both kids at the time.
Boy! SeRan it's the audacity for me 🤦♀️. And that kidnap was expected, been waiting for that plot and…
DJ and Yo Han or totally useless. They have no brains between the both of them. Yo Han is suppose to have all this money and even be richer than granny, but he can't protect his own daughter. Even after WJG has threatened to hurt AnNa.
I would say....... BSC please wake up but he's been such a loser and dumb this whole drama, they're going to make…
In my opinion BSC will switch sides and try to side with DJ but, he will get tempted by KSR again and the idea that she still has money and connections and will end up going back to KSR only to land himself in prison for committing a crime that was concocted by KSR and her mom.
