Happily, I had no problem with any of the actors. They all were convincing in their roles. Typecasting isn't fun for actors, it limits their chances at roles and at showing the full range of their acting capabilities. It also didn't bother me that the ML was an actual adult (although an overly "married" one).
As to the story, sadly, editing must've removed large sections so that main players just disappeared without even a hint as to what happened to them. However, despite my usual avoidance of dramas involving harems which is a disgusting practice, I was drawn to watch this one for some reason. It is an interesting story which shows that life certainly isn't fair, no matter how much power/status one has.
One of the reasons I dislike sports in general. We aren't all sports fanatics. The good news is that, so far, this drama won't be onerous to watch again when all of the episodes are finally released.
As a Muslim viewer, I feel compelled to express my deep concern over the portrayal of the Arab prince character.…
Of course, many Muslims are devout, but many aren't. To take a portrayal of one Arab prince (is he even a Muslim? I haven't seen the show) as a portrayal of all Muslims or all Arabs is something only a shallow-minded person does. The rest of us know that the actor is only one character and not representing an entire group of people. It's time we all stop being offended by every perceived insult or insensitivity especially if done without malicious intention.
First of all, Arabs are an ethnic group, not tied to any particular religion. Secondly, Muslims aren't all devout, especially when they're away from their Muslim society. Dubai was created for those who want to stray for a while. All religions have rule-breakers. This virtue signalling isn't impressing anyone except those who are complaining.
Realistically speaking, the Emperor only has power if people recognize him for having power and follow his orders…
The dowager and her daughter are sociopaths with power, a terrible combination. They are smart enough for their ilk, being able to set up someone they want to get rid of, but they are, as you say, stupid overall, only concerned with keeping power and wealth, as well as avenging whatever they deem as an insult to their august selves (cough, cough, hack).
It doesn't sit right with me. Fake death after all the mourning? I think it's lame and stupid plotline.
To this day, people still fake their own deaths for a variety of reasons, either for money or to avoid something or someone. Why would this be hard to believe? King Solomon said there was nothing new under the sun and that was sometime during the 900s BC.
Realistically speaking, the Emperor only has power if people recognize him for having power and follow his orders…
Yes, and he immediately dropped the sword. However, a dowager's word cannot be questioned. Also, even for self-defense, wielding a sword in the presence of the emperor or the dowager is a capital offense.
Happily, the petty princess apparently bought her ticket to a marriage far away and with someone she doesn't get to refuse. If only the dowager was having the coughing fits instead of the emperor.
Everything is all in the past and has been cleared. He never slut-shamed her. On the abortion issue, the ex-girlfriend…
Call it what you will, it was a developing , live human being. It had its own DNA, it was a separate human being in a presumably protected, nurturing place until whatever form of abortion method was used, be it poison or shredding. Btw, our zygote stage only lasts for 4 days, but all 46 chromosomes that determine our physical characteristics are already present. It's an amazing processing, and we've all been through it.
Everything is all in the past and has been cleared. He never slut-shamed her. On the abortion issue, the ex-girlfriend…
Does that matter?! Lions do that when they take over a pride. They kill all the cubs and subadults. We are human beings who should show humanity to the most vulnerable of our group.
Everything is all in the past and has been cleared. He never slut-shamed her. On the abortion issue, the ex-girlfriend…
It's not politics, it's life. An innocent life was thrown away for the convenience of the parents, normally the natural protectors of their own children.
Everything is all in the past and has been cleared. He never slut-shamed her. On the abortion issue, the ex-girlfriend…
The saddest part is that an innocent baby was deliberately killed by its parents and an abortionist. If you don't want children, don't make them. Whatever happened, it's never the baby's fault.
A tweet said "Hong Yo-seop, who plays Gong Chan-sik, will depart after the 15th episode on the 13th, after sufficient discussion due to personal reasons."
Anyone seen the trailer of 14 yet? Are we getting another season 🤔
The ending seems open-ended for the main character. If they wanted to, he could certainly use his math genius for at least one more government-shakeup now that he's been freed from his past trauma.
Any country that forces its entire male population to waste years of their lives in conscription lives in a dictatorship…
NK and SK are still at war. Aside from that extremely important reason for conscription, all countries should require defense training, not only for the country but for the good of the citizens in their private lives.
1. It happen all the time on another china drama tv series..... Almost....2. Because, there is wu zentian character,…
Although it's not perfect, I'm enjoying the embroidery aspect, the power plays even in the least powerful places in a palace and many of the characters. To be deprived of 6 episodes' worth of a story is frustrating.
Keep in mind that even the smartest people make dumb mistakes, especially when they let their emotions take over. Liuli's mother told her how many times not to seek vengeance, but what does she do, thus imperiling not only herself but several others?!
As to the power the department heads had over their underlings, even to the point of being able to order death by beating, it goes to the cheapness of life throughout the centuries and in different cultures when it comes to servants/slaves and that every person with a little power and not much supervision will abuse it to the nth degree. Maids and eunuchs who had no protection were easily replaced and probably rarely investigated when they died or disappeared. So some of the lower class unquestioned fatalities were understandable from that aspect.
I only want to quibble about the wire-work. How is flying around even possible, particularly in an otherwise non-fantasy story?
