Hiiii everyone!!! I thought i would give this a try since I really liked the Untamed lol...I'm on episode two…
zhou zishu put the nails in one by one, with a period of 3 months in between each insertion. it's explained that this method can preserve half of the individual's martial arts skills.
a person who is close to wen kexing will die, along with their lover. click on the next spoiler if you really want to know.
I've seen some twitter posts about lip reading and some people caught that on the last episode, WKX and ZZS said…
oohh really? i only knew about the lip-reading for grown-up cheng ling telling his disciples abt how wenzhou were able to survive.
i honestly don't think that they'll change the dubbing, since there were a lot of other lip reading scenes in much earlier episodes, and they didn't give overseas fans more of that. plus, i don't think they have another uncensored dubbing recording ready. if that happened, the chinese fans would literally go crazy hahaha.
well, you should redefine your expectations of "masculinity". you don't need to be outwardly masculine to have a strong personality or strong martial arts skills. also, these actors were chosen because they fit the novel description of the books.
this is very much targeted at female viewers despite the wuxia elements, but a lot of male viewers are also enjoying it.
your comment reeks of homophobia. the lgbtq community is sorely in need of representation after years and years and years of past and ongoing prejudice. how come hollywood isn't injecting straight relationships into every tv shows??
if you want to discuss this subject more here, please feel free.
some really good news is that they're releasing small snippets that didn't make it into the chinese version to the youtube releases! the most recent example is wen kexing's hand around zhou zishu's waist when they were hugging.
also, i think that most of the actors ship wenzhou (even li daikun (xie wang), ke nai yu (liu qianqiao), etc.).
I agree. I wish they had cut some off their screen time to add more to the ending. Maybe it's just me but step-father…
it's definitely not just you. if you go on bilibili, just search up "找鞋", and you'll see lots of videos on those two. even li daikun, xie wang's actor, thinks that it's not just a "father-son" relationship hahahaha. i really like xie'er's character, so i like his screentime. however, even some of their scenes got cut off at the end, so it's not just the storyline that suffered.
Scorpion and his step-father are getting too much screen time ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯ more than the leads!
tbh i find it okay, but that's bc i really like tragic and charming characters like xie wang. don't worry too much though; if you hate it a lot, you can just watch at double speed.
Oh God.. I hope you are wrong. I very much like Luhan but he is not a good actor and no, just because he was presentable…
and can we not forget that wang yibo's acting received criticism for the first 13 or so episodes, which changed people's opinions for the worse? (i don't really get your point here, but here's another perspective.)
i think that we should take into account an actor's previous projects, since a small improvement/consistent level of performance is a lot more likely than a drastic improvement. i get your point about the bad effects, but great actors should be able to "carry" the shortcomings of the budget (for example, the leads in guardian). it shouldn't be an excuse, especially for someone like luhan who has acted in numerous shows.
additionally, acting "good" for xie lian will not cut it. mxtx deserves someone who can fill all the complex nooks and crannies of xie lian's personality and truly embody his personality, not someone who is "passable" for casual watchers.
however, if luhan is revealed to be xie lian in the future, i hope that he will be able to thrive under the weight of the role and cnetizens' high expectations.
Have not watch this donghua yet but from reading people’s comment Jun Wu is the villain ? No just no if Liu…
jun wu is an incredibly complex villain. his backstory is extremely deep, and he is so uniquely two-faced (pun unintended). if liu xueyi is actually going to be playing jun wu, it would not be a waste of his beauty and acting. to play jun wu would be a great honor to any actor.
you have to read the novel to really understand jun wu's character. jun wu's character has probably not yet become significant during the first season of the donghua.
heck no. fan xian already has lin wan'er (basically in a long distance relationship), and if he also got together…
omg you're right. they are cousins. idk what will happen between them. i'd be okay with anything, as long as it's "moral" and explained well by the scriptwriter.
as for gong jun being called lao gong, it's because he's the top, or "husband" (don't really agree w this reason though). also, with a casual and older friend, you can add "lao" (direct translation is old) in front of their last name in china. the "gong" in gong jun is the same tone (chinese is a tonal language) as the "gong" of lao gong; therefore, to call him lao gong is also a little joke.
What's with the dudes looking heavily like females??
different beauty standards and culture. americans tend to prefer a rugged and sharper look, which is more stereotypically masculine. a lot of men are also afraid of acting, dressing, and appearing stereotypically feminine because they will (wrongly) be seen as weaker. this is engraved in american culture and is being perpetuated by media, friends, school and work culture, etc. however, in china, more youthful and feminine-looking men are also considered attractive, especially by young women (though the manly-man look could be pretty popular in certain contexts). additionally, men wearing makeup is also more accepted (at least by women? probably) in china, and that can be seen when the scorpion king wears eyeshadow and eyeliner in the series, which would probably be made fun of in american movies/shows.
it's also up to your personal perspective (which is obviously shaped by the above factors). to me, gong jun and zhang zhehan don't look like women at all, though they do have "pretty" features. i find them more attractive than the western ideal for handsomeness.
(btw, idk if english is your first language, but usually, calling women "females" is pretty weird, especially if you're saying "dudes" right before it. again, i'm not accusing you of anything, just pointing this out).

darn, that's a bit harsh, isn't it? i think wan'er's personality is a victim of poor writing. however, even considering that, there really isn't much room for her character to grow unless she gets involved in the main plot. wan'er isn't necessarily weak; she has some inner strength, but the larger problem is that everything about her is inevitably related to fan xian. she has little character besides being beautiful and ill.
i think that fan xian has feelings for wan'er and would not get together with duoduo IF wan'er dies. he wouldn't see wan'er's death as an opportunity to pursue other women. moreover, i don't think wan'er would die in joy of life 2.
of course, you're free to ship anything, but i think that a duoduo x fan xian romantic relationship is very improbable.
however, in the book, they meet in the afterlife, so it's not a completely sad ending. they don't include it in the show though.

btw, if you type in 老婆 into bilibili, all the videos will be of zhang zhehan lol.

i agree; it really is unfortunate.
