Drama was broadcast on the batshit \weird dramas frame and is even tagged as comedy ,
so the over the topness can't be helped.
Not fan of the OTT genre myself but japan is also expert in slice of life trope, grounded, realistic, heartfelt stories with natural acting that don't even look like acting .

There’s comic relief scenes but I wouldn’t say the drama is a comedy.
hard to get into the cases since tone of the drama is not serious except for some guest performances.the characters themselves are comic relief. ost too.
