Title The Glory
is this good?
Oooh yes it's good.

I've been growing less and less interested in watching dramas these past few years, but this one... this one just sucked me right back in - and I don't even usually watch anything that ins't a sageuk! Binged it on the spot since my partner told me about it yesterday.

I love antiheroes. I love dark and twisted characters that go all in come what may, who laugh in your face when you try to appeal to their morality or show concern for their future.

Fair warning though, what they show is quite brutal. The raw physical abuse is one thing, but the psychological suffering laid bare by the show is.. quite profound. Might be a staggering experience for some, especially people sensitive to the tropics this story is based around.

With that said, it's 100% worth the watch but waiting for season 2 will be its own little hell now, haha.

Title Mr. Queen
---question about direction of the series---

Question: I'm on episode 6 and until now I've been watching under the impression that this is a sort of isekai (MC gets transported to another world/era) and after an adjustment period he then lives as Kin So Yong. My understanding was that she (KSY) actually killed herself and he went into her body in her place. As in - permanently. The concept was fascinating to me and the relationship slowly changing between the MC and the king is amazing to watch.
So... is that NOT where this is going? Because quite frankly Jang Bong Hwang IN Kin So Yong's body is the entire reason this drama feels fresh and unique and is the angle that made me watch this in the first place. So - without spoiling too much - could someone please tell me which way this is heading towards? I'm already invested in this, but if I watch the entire thing and then turns out this was a hole different thing entirely, I'm going to be pissed haha.

Antique Bakery is like comfort food eaten while wrapped in a cozy blanket. I love this movie to bits and re-watch it every now and again. Highly Recommended (don't watch it for the romance though, not much of that in here, I'm afraid).

Also, Kim Jae Wook is in it. So. 'Nuff said.

Title Immortality
If you want to read the novel, Erha please please read its content warning before proceeding. Although this book…
People, take such warnings with moderation. I've put reading 2HA on hold for the longest time, exactly because of the slew of TWs and such, thinking what utter edge-fest this must be, as I saw all the buldging, red TW this and TW that.

Conversly, I do not like SVSSS due to, well, one such TW that was very well earned and people blatantly enjoying this aspect just set my teeth on edge. I felt utterly disgusted reading that part and frankly just stopped reading half way through the scene, never picking the book up again. I just.. lost interest. It's like MSZS incense burner, but much much worse. Ugh.

But, on the other hand, here these warnings are being sprinkled on nearly a third of the chapters, so I just steeled my nerves and went in, ready to gtfo as soon as it was going to get too much.

Before I started reading, I removed all the damn TWs from the chapters and just very cautiously started reading. And you know what? It's fine. I mean, yeah, it does get tough to read at points, but it's because of the emotions that the text is bringing up, not because there's a gore-fest, or a rape kink being pandered to for a cheap thrill. And sure, the story is brutal at times, complex, and most deffinitely directed at *adults*, but that's that.

The book is a masterpiece. Like it's really really good. But dang, I'm really not sure how they can pull of every…
Well, content-wise it should be roughly twice as long as untamed (and I say *roughly* due to how much LA diverged from the novel).

The real question is... exactly *how* do they want to censor, well, Hua Cheng? I mean... just like Tim Minchin said, 'love without evidence is... stalking'. So what? The greatest stalker in history turned the sworn-est of sworn brothers?

Title Empress Ki
9.5/10

I shaved half a point from the score, because the fact is, that this is not the story of Empress Ki, but rather a tale of a woman, who in the end *becomes* the empress. Quite a big difference, that.

Loved Togon. He was acted splendidly and I really enjoyed that character. He shares quite a lot with one of the leads from Queen Seon Duk, namely Bidam.

One of the best historical dramas I've seen, by far!

Title Hwang Jin Yi
Such a disappointment (5/10).

Everyone was whining all the time, no one was sticking to their words/motivations and the characters weren't likeable (nor interesting, to be honest).
The most irritating part was, that even though the heroine was supposed to be a prodigy, unable to live without music and dancing, she dropped everything several times, just as a guy appeared. Plus, without a man in her life, she seemed to be unable to do literary anything, instantly dissolving into a drunken mess.

The only likeable characters in the whole series were the heroine's mistress, the head mistress and Bu Yong.

Is this Tragic? please XD
No idea if what I said above would be considered a spoiler or not. I did not reveal any specific plot points, nor characters involved.
However, any answer to such a question can be considered a spoiler by some. Therefore, I hid my answer above.

Title The Great Queen Seondeok Spoiler
Is this Tragic? please XD
Yes, it is. Like I said in my comment above, I cried (a lot). And I don't cry while watching stuff. Ever.
It is not the kind where there is a constant flow of cheap angst and drama going at you. By no means.
It is all masterfully balanced and woven into the plot, with the reasoning there for you to see and judge. Also, even though it's not an easy thing to swallow, in the end it is all poetic tragedy. It's not only sorrowful, but also beautiful. And it gives you a grace period, slowly changing the unsettling, distant plot possibility into the final focus of the entire series, like a true tragedy should.

I bloody cried. Not metaphorically, but literal, physical tears and snot dripping down on my keyboard and all over.

Also, Mishil is one of the best characters (not villains, characters) I have ever seen, not only in drama, but in general.
In fact, I don't think there is one single character in the entire series, be it the "good" or the "bad" guys, whom I dislike.

This series is a true masterpiece.
