i’m not saying ten is a perfect person, because he definitely isn’t 😭 but i feel like people are being way too harsh on him over this. like, i'm not sure why people keep saying he didn’t go when pun and moth’s scene literally mentions that he attended the first day of the funeral?? YES HE WENT! EVEN JUST FOR ONE DAY! we just didn’t see it happen on screen.
the funeral was in another province, and ten had work commitments. at the end of the day, these characters have their own lives and responsibilities. you can’t always just stop working when you have an entire production waiting for you. that’s real life, some people genuinely can’t afford to take five days off just like that. being a close friend doesn’t mean you can drop everything whenever something happens. 🤷🏻♀️
honestly, that’s what makes the story realistic. as you get older, you realise life doesn’t stop just because something important happens. people still have responsibilities and others depending on them. sometimes work really is work, and that doesn’t automatically make you a bad friend.
i do wish they’d shown at least a phone convo between dean and ten, just to reassure us they were still in contact. but throughout the series, they talk about each other and show they’re there for each other, even when those moments happen off-screen. the novel also supports them being best friends. they tease each other, get involved in each other’s love lives, vent, and give advice. like, come on, that’s literally best-friend behaviour.
and about that cute ten and pun scene, do people expect ten to act depressed the entire time too? i thought it was a nice moment to balance out the sadness of the episode. not every scene needs to be depressing just because something sad is happening. the writers probably wanted to give us a little breathing room instead of making the entire episode feel heavy.
i’m not saying ten can do no wrong, but there’s a difference between acknowledging his flaws and assuming he doesn’t care. not everything can be shown in a 10 ep series. you can criticise him without acting like he’s a terrible friend for not attending all five days.
anyway, this became a whole rant about ten and dean’s friendship 💀 i just think their friendship deserves more credit! p.s please remember to separate characters from actors. you can dislike a character without cursing out the actors for their actions. they’re just doing their job, and it isn’t their fault.
