I'm in Eps 4 and I kind of doubt something about their sacrifice
Yup, they're both dead. The game is not really just to hide from the wolf, but to be the wolf. If you're still a lamb by the end of the game, then you're dead.
Initially, I thought that the ending was disappointing, since they lost all the memories from their time travel during 1998-2019. But the more I thought about it, the more I appreciate HYX's choice to break the loop. Because of her selfless choice, she saved everyone from the heartaches that could've happened if their time travel persisted. First of all, she saved LZW from so many things. LZW didn't have to suffer his 20-year longing for HYX, nor did he have to be in a car accident and wake up as a disabled person for his whole life. And of course, he wouldn't have to die a brutal death in 2017 and 2019 anymore. Second, she saved the original WQS and CYR from being puppets in their love story. Likewise, also saving the families of both persons from grief. Third, MJJ didn't have to be imprisoned and die from guilt in 2008 anymore. Nor did he have to live through his grandmother’s death. Lastly, she also saved herself from the grief of losing someone (WQS) on 2017, from the frustrations of going back in time, and again from losing LZW in 2019.
Can you explain what happened in extended ending?? I am just tooo curious...
Okay here it goes: It shows that LZW owns WQS studio in the future. The scene shows that LZW is drawing the "rain scene" despite having no recollection of it. Then, MJJ enters the studio with cake since it's LZW's 28th birthday. MJJ asks LZW for his 3 wishes; the 2 are as follows: (a) work will be finished on time, (b) MJJ's grandma's scraped-ice business will grow more. For the third, LZW closed his eyes and silently wished it. Then, 17 year old HYX comes from behind him with cake, singing him a Happy Birthday. So basically, his 3rd wish was to celebrate his birthday with young HYX.
The happy part is: MJJ, CYR, and LZW didn't die The sad part is: all the memories of 1998 and 2010-2019 are just GONE The happy-sad part: are u comfortable wid seeing highschool LZW and gradeschool HYX together HAHAHAHA. In the ending you'll see that HYX calls LZW as "Zi Wei ge" or basically older brother.
Disclaimer that I watched it raw, despite my non-fluency in Mandarin. But I think I understood most of it anyway. Basically, HYX was able to stop CYR's death, and thereafter she broke the Walkman and the tape to stop everything from happening (e.g. LZW's death in the future). Hence, all of their time travel history is cleared from their memories (i.e. no WQS in HYX's future, and no HYX in LZW's past). It's open-ended. Either you believe that LZW and HYX will meet and fall in love again in the future, or they will just live separate lives not knowing each other as adults.
Wait a minute! Are you talking about 1st ML or 2nd ML? I thought Yuan Song is like a kid, flirting with FL, nothing…
Somehow, during those times, what made the situation confusing was that the FL was vague in expressing what she wanted. At that point, and at the moments building up to that, she showed more hesitations than affirmations towards ML's moves (except of course when she slept with him because of the "mood"). Maybe that was why I saw his actions as manipulative and childish. It would've been nicer if the FL wasn't too confused with her feelings, because if so, then ML's actions could've been justified as playful teasing.

Sadly, I was talking about the 1st ML, since the 2nd ML wasn't portrayed fully yet during the 6th episode. ML's attitude of getting what he wants despite obvious protests of the FL early on was offensive for me, since he wouldn't take no for an answer and even joked about "reporting power abuse and sexual harassment". But from the comments I see from this thread, I think that the ML came across as offensive only to me, since I'm exposed to the belief/culture that sexual harassment isn't something to joke/tease about.
Wow..... Ur the only one in this entire world who thinks the ML is bad I guess... Lol...Watch full and ull get…
Then I'm glad I already stopped. I really wasn't able to tolerate ML's way of getting what he wants, which was, for the last 6 episodes, to get FL's attention. It was quite offensive for me, given that he wouldn't take no for an answer - but I guess this is forgivable for many. Thanks for the tip.

I guess it's because I have only watched until episode 6 wherein the ML was sort of blackmailing the FL for sleeping with him (i.e. but non-verbatim, "I will report you for sexual harassment"). In my opinion, no one in their right mind in 2020 should do that, even as a "joke". But, like you said, maybe there might've been a character development for ML after the 6th episode.
Dropped at episode 6. ML has terrible character (i.e. selfish, mysogynistic, manipulative) for a 2020 drama. ML's personality was very similar to the ML's in "Well-Intended Love".
I have a guess as to what might happen on the last episode (see comment). Can you guys share your guesses too?
My guess is that CYR, prior to meeting up with the killer, might have already changed the future by destroying the Walkman and/or the tape. In this way, the next "loop" (like LZW called it) of the killer, HYX, and LZW would be different. In essence, LZW will not time travel to WQS's body, but find HYX in 2019 as the original LZW who was never caught up in a car accident. The killer will not be able to time travel to the past, thus the original class monitor will live his life normally. And HYX, being the only person who was there when CYR changed the future, will be the only one who remembers what happened from 2010 to 2019.
They are talking about Lunar New Year, which was on 02/16/1999. So her death happened or will happen in a few…
Pardon me for interrupting your convo, but I'm also curious as to what could possibly be a mind blowing ending to the drama!
