I sure hope so!! Tbh i was never a huge fan of the old badboy types. Back then, i only watched kdramas for the cute moments but had no attachment whatsoever for the characters themselves but i love the new type of male leads and i think bc of them we're seeing more character development in female leads as well bc now the female leads are with people who are supportive of their decisions and want to see them grow and aren't controlling. Now, the female leads aren't just spending the entire drama melting this guy's heart but rather both are open and loving and have mature relationship and i love it!!! Also im glad that they still kept some of the lovable tropes from the 'old' male leads like jealousy but they do it in a cuter not bordering abuse way lol
I'm surprised that so many complain about it already. I mean... if you've watched the trailer, you should…
Agreed. I think if you've been watching kdramas for awhile, you'd be used to unrealistically cheesy dramas and they're easy to identify from the trailer alone. Idk why people were expecting different. Also, i actually find it less annoying than other dramas like this. It's a lot like noble, my love and the female lead in that was much more annoying compared to this so...
''No one wants to see a weak-willed female lead in a drama.'' I read this type of comment…
as you said, there's nothing wrong with liking such a character and there are certainly people out there who are, like you said, emotionally dependent, naive etc, and that's not the problem. i think the issue is that kdramas tell you that it;s okay to be this way and it's not. it's not okay to let yourself get walked on by other people all the time and just always be the one giving. kdramas need to(and these days they do because you see fewer female leads like this) acknowledge that such characteristics are flaws. but usually, they make it seem as if this kind of person is cute or very nice. i think a great example of a female lead who starts of this way and then comes to realize her flaw is the female lead in cheese in the trap. but that drama does a really great job in general of making it's characters acknowledge their flaws and work towards self-improvement i think. also you said not every character can be katniss everdeen, totally true. but you can have a character who's not necessarily a badass but still has enough self respect to stand up for themselves. c:
