Completed and thought this season was okay overall. Just a warning that the English subtitles get progressively worse the closer you get to the end the season. Hopefully Iqiyi will get all the eps manually translated at some point in the future.
This season they definitely had a bigger budget and it showed. Storyline-wise and case-wise, I definitely liked the first season better. Much like Under the Skin''s 2nd season, this show also decided to make the regular cop character (Zheng Ming) into a supporting character instead of co-lead, with the focus being on the doctor (Dai Yu). The case involving the clearly re-tconned childhood female friend just to create angst and the big reveal for Dai Yu went on way too long and added nothing to the overall story. Zheng Ming had no story of his own this season. My biggest dislike was the minimal interaction/lacking reunion of Zheng Ming and Haesan. His loss was Zheng Ming's story in the 1st season. In this season, they dragged out the reunion between them way too long and when it happened, they barely had a conversation alone, which of course was interrupted by Dai Yu. If they get another season, which the ending clearly was a set up for, they really need to give Zheng Ming more to do.
Good show! English subtitles were much improved for this show when i rewatched a few weeks ago, so definitely looking forward to the announced season 2, hopefully with a bigger budget given its popularity on iqiyi. The writing for this show is not the best and because the episodes are short, the scene transitions can be very abrupt. However the complicated bromance between the two MLs, the actors chemistry, interesting cases, and the fact that the rest of the police team aren’t just glorified extras far outweigh those issues.
I think this show had potential to be really good, but I don't think the main couple has chemistry, mostly because the actor playing Won Young cannot emote anything other than slapstick comedy facial expressions, so I'm struggling to see why someone as mature as Tae Joon is interested in him. The camera angle kiss just sealed the deal. (And it's incredibly problematic and offensive to see these productions keep casting straight actors who are uncomfortable with showing any type of actual physical affection, as gay characters. They shouldn't take the roles if they are!). In contrast, I think the second couple and both its actors are quite good and do have chemistry, so I'm only sticking with this to see what happens with them.
I love this series overall, but that finale was kind of a let down. I don't understand the unnecessary fake out about Tin, and then his sudden appearance at the end. I'm glad it was happy ending, but the episode was not so good.
I love the twists and turns this show takes. Did not expect Jinta to up the stakes by placing Tol in an entirely new timeline, where Tin isn't exactly the loveable, socially awkward dude we've grown to know and love. Tol definitely has his work cut out for him!
Noooooooooooo! Also, Tol is finally wearing the jacket from the like ep 4 when Tin had the vision of him so we now know why he was so relieved to see Tin then. And here we are back to another long week of waiting. Ugh!
I thought this was going to be a learning journey for Tol as well as for Tin, but so far, Tol has just remained…
I agree. I'm also not liking Tol at the moment, but I'm hoping it’s part of a larger redemption/evolution story for him in the remaining episodes. Otherwise, there’s no explanation for why a divine entity like Jinta would be intervening to have Tin save his life in the first place. We’re only at the half way point in the series, and this is the first loop that's more than a day or so before his death, so there’s more time for that character development.
FYI, the preview for next week is missing from the Aisplay youtube video, but someone has kindly posted on twitter. I'm already screaming and wishing it was next week. Here's the link--
Another very good episode! I hope in the last 6 we see a serious redemption arc for Tol because he's coming off like a real self-centered jerk at the moment. I didn't expect this loop to start with me actively disliking Tol and his entire friend group, but here we are. Free Rit!
By the end of this show, poor Tin's going to end up having to stop like 20 people from dying/being killed! This is going to be a very long week waiting until the next episode...
The episode will begin streaming shortly and link will be active for about 2 hours afterward. Aisplay will then delete it all together :( So, if you are able to, watch it now!
Really enjoying this series so far and its a shame not as many folks seem to watching it internationally due to Aisplay being ridiculous, with episodes only being available with English subs for like 3 hours on Youtube. Story-wise, the plot is interesting and I really like that they seem to have avoided a lot of the BL tropes so far in the romance part. It's also refreshing that, despite the age difference, Tin and Tol are clearly equals in their interactions. Lastly, I LOVE that they cast a brown actor as Jinta. Turns out he's actually Thai/African-American, which is even more awesome.
So many kudos to Nanon and Ohm and their acting abilities! The last scene in particular was so intense and emotional, and that rarely happens in Thai BLs, let alone on a GMM show!
