as a huihui and cdrama fan i'm so excited for this, i've been wanting jun to do a costume drama for forever. just started watching tang dynasty tour to prepare for this!
isnt Jun chinese?? why didnt they just get him to speak?
it's VERY common for actors to be dubbed in c-dramas. they might have gotten a different VA to standardize the accent, or bc there was noise on set so they had to dub over for clean audio. and getting a professional VA can be faster/cheaper bc not all actors are good at voice acting or might just need more takes than a professional VA. more takes=more time=more money. as another commenter said it's also possible jun didn't have time during his other schedules to do the dubbing himself
i'm watching this drama bc i'm a jun stan but i'm also a regular c-drama watcher, i promise jun being dubbed is not a negative reflection on him. it would have been nice if he could have done his own voice dubbing, but it's actually kind of rare for actors to dub themselves in c-dramas. for better or worse it's just common practice in the industry
the first episode was so fun! im watching this for minghao but the whole cast is so fun and entertaining, i really can't stop smiling during this show. i'm looking forward to the rest of the season!! :3
i finished the novel recently and came bc i was interested about the casting, i was a bit surprised to see shi mei is played by a female actress. does anyone know if his character is a woman in the drama? or is he still a man but they just got a female actress to play him? it kind of makes sense if they gender bent him so they could still keep the romance subplot (or whatever u want to call it) bt him and mo ran but i just wasn't expecting it lol
Justice in the Dark (based on Mo Du by Priest) aired the other day, so there's a possibility other BL adaptations could be aired soon. it's possible they're just not be able to be promoted/advertised as seems to be the case for Justice in the Dark. fingers crossed eternal faith will be able to air ;-;
it's published by seven seas, you can buy it at barnes and noble or amazon. smaller/local booksellers or your local library may also have it. so far 5 of 8 volumes of the official english translation have been published
I didn't want to get my hopes up until it was confirmed that Jun was cast in this, but I'm so happy to see it's actually true! I've been a fan of Jun for a long time now and he always talks so much about his child acting days and how he's been wanting to get back into acting for years now. That plus the fact that I love c-dramas makes this a dream come true for me. I've been wishing for actor Jun to make a comeback for years now and I may be a bit unreasonably emotional to see it actually happening. Even though modern dramas tend to not to be my cup of tea, I can't wait to watch this and see Jun acting again. Plus from my understanding, this drama is the childhood friends to lovers trope, and I'm looking forward to seeing that as well!
