People expecting hour long eps lol not gunna happen! Also tbh I wouldn’t want it to happen, 16 hours of high teen romance? Gag, boring! They will prob be 15-25 minutes which is still almost 4-6 hours of content! Plenty of time to tell this kind of story effectively. Any more would be too much and it would drag on. Be happy that we are getting better and longer content! Obviously investors and producers have figured out the Korean bl market is there and the production budget seems to have gone way up, yay!

Hate to be a downer b/c I'm super excited about this, but the episodes are totally gonna be 10-15 minutes long...…
Even if it’s only say 10 mins an ep that is still 160 minutes which is almost 3 hours of content, def enough time to effectively tell a story. I think they will be 15-25 mins at least tho. Either way, it’s an improvement and you should be happy for that!

I think changes in modern dramas are a double edged sword. The quality of dramas is immeasurably better both in…
Yes, true. A bit of competition can be good imo but some good competitors can be left behind in the flurry of things! Longevity is key too indeed, not everything popular now will stand the test of time! Some will though. My other worry is that as more foreign interest and investment comes in to kdrama land that some of the unique aspects of the kdrama industry I/we enjoy might change but we shall have to see what happens.

And yes, it is good to give new comers an array of things and bring dramas that aren't normally fussed over to their attention. However, I will say if you have a mydramalist account you are prob a bit more than a newcomer haha. My first drama was BOF and I was not impressed... I continued and watched a few other dramas before I discovered mydramalist which def helped me find and consider more dramas than I would have with out it.

LSG def helped bring more attention to Mouse so it will prob continue to have steady interest. And true, there are some good actors who are also good at picking the right roles/dramas which makes them good to follow!

yup. more thriller and crime series and less of the annoying ML, hell yassssss!
Yes, the diversity in stories is another aspect which has gotten better the last 5-8 years or so. A makjang romance can be fun but when every drama is some variation of that it becomes quite dull!

Should i watch the korean or japanese version?
Why not both? I'm sure they differ a bit since the Korean version is considerably longer than the Japanese one.

is this drama worth it?
It is great on so many levels, so yes!
MattPeddlesden Jun 21, 2021
Also possibly unpopular opinion, the quality of dramas overall has gotten better over the past decade or so... so it's not much of a surprise that newer dramas are more popular - Including ratings.
MattPeddlesden Jun 21, 2021
Popularity of Kdrama and mydramalist do indeed continue to grow! Yay!

Also, Signal is about to hit 50k watchers. Shout out to non-romance crime thrillers!!! It will be the first of it's kind to achieve this, woot!

Title 18 Again
Maybe I'm getting too old for dramas like this, but I'm 4 episodes into this and it seems like there's a lot of…
I mean you and I are obviously not Korean so neither of us can say for sure but that might be a cultural thing. Idk about you but I wouldn’t be surprised since it seems koreans can be a bit shallow about things like this from what I have seen and heard… can’t say for sure though. Personally I don’t think I have ever seen a older Korean female news anchor when i think about it. And yeah it has a few cliches sure but aren’t those cliches what makes kdrama endearing? It still felt original enough to me. Also this drama is obviously aimed at adults. A show about marriage and the parent-child relationship is for teens? Almost insulting that you suggest I am immature and have a juvenile mentality for enjoying it.
