If there is a main cp then it's not triangle love drama, like Cang Lan Jue, the character Cheng Heng is a supporting role. The type of triangle love drama is there are 2 ML, 3 ML and audience just keep wonder. Usually in this kind of drama, audience keep thinking the FL will end up with a ML, their story will be remain focus a lot of time, but then at the end, she ends up with another ML. When I was small, almost Hongkong's romance drama are like that.

I try to keep my expectation as low as possible ( so there will be less dissapoint ), I seriously drop all drama which broadcast recently but the HUxin's material keep coming out make me can't resist. And thanks god, no love triangle, may be just some jealousy here and there. Actually I heard about Lost You Forever which rumour will be broadcast soon but that drama has 3 man fall in love with a girl. So no no ! not my taste. So really looking forward to this one. Hope it will be good, haven't feeling enjoy a drama for a long time.

I will not enter deabat over every reason of why there are bad reviews in China, but it's just how Chinese audience is, the same as they also general prefer fair skin over dark skin, xianxa drama should have fairy good looking ML and FL, or else they don't like it. And it's not just about China, western movie also care about the look, let's say all the superhero movies.

Anyway, my last comment on this thread, you are always can enjoy what ever you like, without being sensitive and denial reality about what you like has bad score with other people.

Yeah, that why I said may be, and TTEOTM no doubt is the most popular drama right now, as I state above, a lot of people watch it anyway, including myself, who can't find anything else to watch now. Like all blockbuster from Hollywood always popular and commercial succesful, the review is another story, just simple like that.

There are a lot of black spot, but when a drama has a lot of traffic, views and voter, then the general public outnumber all the hater group. We still can get a picture about general public opinion by compare with other drama. There are a lot of drama with A-level star ( that mean a lot of hater ) can have high score like Love Like the Galaxy, A Dream of Splendor ( all above 7.5 ) and other has bad score like Immortal Samsara ( 5.9 ), compare to MDL score, 7.5 is pretty bad. I found funny enough, when the drama has high score, everyone post about it, but bad score then blaming to hater

You said that the score is out , and call me liar, can you show me the screenshot of the score ? Douban will not public the score until the drama finish. However you can see all comment and rating by individual user right away. You can like whatever you like but you need to accept other opinion too, just because people write something you don't like doesn't mean they are hater, I also like a lot of movie has bad score. It's fine, just matter of taste. As I said a lot pp watch TTEOTM, but doesn't mean it has good reviews in China. How about take a look :

various reason, reality doesn't meet expectation, male lead too thin, make up too much, actor eyeliner, high budget but dubbing is not good, special effect like game online style, plot is inconsisent, lagging, dream arc is boring, ... and a lot more... Hot search is about infamous thing like TTEOTM's make up artist ...

douban has't show the score but it's not 7.5. Looking to comment and rating section it's almost half of 1 and 2 stars, even fans is not so optimist . A lot of pp watch it and there is no big drama from other network, but doesn't mean it has good review.

TTEOTM has quite some bad review in Chinese mainland audience, douban score maybe under 6/10 ( even may be around 5.5 ). But there is nothing else to watch now.

The basic kinda the same, but more dark and complicated does not mean better ( either LBFAD or the novel ), must wait the drama air to say how it is, hope it's not another Immortal samsara, the story is different but it's just too much turn to boring, Immortal samsara is a huge disappointed

Even in this case, increase the length to few minutes doesn't mean you have more ads slot. the best formule is always shorter length and more eps, you can place more ads at the begin of each ep, where audience less annoying about ads and can't skip them, I always see chinese drama is around 40m-45m and drag to more ep possible

Yeah, no expectation then no hurt. I don't follow this drama until its show itstrailer. Even for finalcial reason, for long term, I think it's better for Youku to put TTEOM in summer vacation, the hottest time of the year. As people tend to spend more money in summer, the sale go up, it's also time company release new product, and company is willing to pay more for ads, specially these ads like fashion, drink, food, auto, mobile. There are also more audience, and people tend to buy more merchandise like doll, couple object. Youku can ask for higher price for ads and merchandise, and company still accept to pay. Put TTEOM in April ( and in a rush way ) is kind of waste if Youku really think that it will be horse money making. The logic is the same as all blockbuster release in cinema on summer and nd on BBFTB side, they lost money for all the promotion they already done. So the only reason I think is they are in deeply in debt now and that force them find some quick money, so they change plan in last minutes

I think the TTEOM get licenced for the first part earlier but the second part is just recently. I don't undertand how it is 40eps now at once. Curious enough, my company just got info for TTEOM ads like a week ago ?! so its kinda rush I think, and definitly that Youku think TTEOM can make a lot of money for them now.

The art of selling advertise in drama is much more complicate than it sounds. My company was once try to put ads on a web drama, and it’s really interesting. No company will buy ads for a whole 40eps long at once, because the platform may be can not render maximum money, and also it will put the company who put ads at risk. May be short drama or low budget drama will work that way. But for s-level, a-level, there are various way of selling ads, and ads can sell for different period. When we said sold out ads, only means for the first part of the drama ( may be 10-15 eps, the first week the drama broadcast ). After the drama broadcast, if it render a huge audience and flame, more company want to put ads on it, the platform will raise the price, may be even 10 times, or even make audition for it, if there is a huge demande so they can rendering much much more money. The last eps usually is the one who earn the most money. Not only ads but also other kind of business like merchedise, copyright too. If the drama is a dissappoint, then the platform may lower the ads price, and choose to broadast it quicker. Some s-level drama does not have much attention at the beginning, end up rendering a huge profit. So it’s 50/50 risk ( well, that’s business anyway ). That’s why platform usually break the drama to few parts, not only make the broadcast time longer to keep the subscription stay longer, but also make time to merchadise negotiation and sell more expensive ads. Also, to reduce the risk, the company also put the same ads, in different dramas on different platforms at the same period. Even the platform does not divive ads to different period to sell, they never sell all slot, they always keep certain slot empty so they can raise the prise and sell it for much more money later.
So the time of broadcast is not always about sold out ads, it also depend on other platform, which time it is in the year. All platform always reserved some dramas for some occasion like winter vacation, summer vacation, spring festival ..vv... Those time where there are huge audience and the company want to sell more product, therefore willing to pay for more ads.
In the case of BFTB and TTEOTM, I think both can sold out their ads for the first part and ready to be broadcast, but may be Youku think that TTEOTM can render much more money now, as they are despreate for some hush money. But how about the long term ? may be their boss just want to an immediatly result now. Hoewver, at the end, the content and audience are still are the things which decide the succesful.
