a gay romance does not debase or take away from the quality of anything. not to mention, the source material is…
though i have to say, if you're main point was just that the ravings on BL from fans were annoying, there are better ways of saying it but i do have to somewhat agree with THAT point. i have a lot of complicated feelings about some fans oversexualizing gay romances. if i have to read one more post about whose the top and whose the bottom with these kinds of shows i'm going to lose my mind.
so, like, if your main point was just to express a dissatisfaction with the way people are focusing on the romance and no one seems to be focusing on the story itself, just keep in mind there's a better way to word it that doesn't also make you seem like you're a gross bigot. because i wouldn't have necessarily disagreed with your original post until the last sentence.

i agree that it should be as normalized at hetero romances, don't get me wrong. but the world just isn't at that point yet, so of course there are people (lgbt people especially) who are focusing on the gay romance part - especially from works coming from places that don't typically allow gay romance in certain media, like china.
if you were posting things like that about a drama that had no ties to a gay romance at all, it would be more understandable. though, i do recommend watching how you word things. i called you homophobic specifically because the way you said things was homophobic - you shouldn't be equating gay romance/boys love to porn because you're implying that you only see those things as something inherently sexual. which it isn't.
if you think story telling is the most important, then kudos to you. write all about the story telling. you don't have to mention the gay romance at all if it isn't something you're interested in. you also don't have to say homophobic things. (whether you think it was homophobic or not, i am telling you as a gay man that relating gay romance to porn is homophobic.)
this is quite good. the biggest turn off is the incessant ravings on BL from viewers.story telling is the true…
a gay romance does not debase or take away from the quality of anything. not to mention, the source material is gay so its hardly a surprise that it's a big part of the censored drama version.
This is a perfect example of toxic labelling and exclusion. There is no such thing as a difference between BL…
I'm pretty sure what they mean is that BL is a subgenre of the LGBTQ+ genre, in the same way that the supernatural genre is a subgenre of fantasy. There would be lots of subgenres within LGBTQ+: BL/MLM/Yaoi (all terms used separately by region by my observations), GL/WLW/Yuri, Transgender related stories, etc. Because LGBTQ+ is a pretty broad term.
Not sure if this needs to be under a spoiler tag, since everyone else seems to be posting what they thought of the first episode, so just let me know if I should change it. :-)
EP 1 was better than I hoped! I actually really liked the SFX during certain moments (like during the Gene and Nubsib scenes), I think it added to the quality of some scenes, though I do agree there were certain points where it was a bit much. If they used it just a bit more sparingly, I think it'll be perfect. Some people mentioned the episode was really loud, which I didn't really notice? But I watch with earphones and keep the volume kind of low bc I get paranoid when I can't hear the things around me lol, so that might be why.
I really like Gene's character, and Up's acting was really good imo. I relate to the character a lot too, as a writer who wants to publish fantasy and sci-fi novels one day, and especially with his shade towards the BL industry. Gosh do I have a lot to say about that lmao.
I'm so excited to see Kao getting the chance to show off his acting skills, and I really like Nubsib so far. His scenes with Gene are really cute already, and I love how you can tell how much he's already a sucker for Gene. All the little smiles and smirks. ;-) They made it pretty obvious Nubsib knew Gene before all of this, at least that's what I'm thinking. I have no idea how he knows him though? Maybe a fan of his other books? Gene obviously has a bad memory for people, so they could have met before and he just doesn't remember lol. I can already feel good chemistry between the characters, so I'm real excited to see more of them.
Aey is cute and honestly I kind of like him, even though he's probably going to cause a lot of trouble. He clearly has something deeper going on, and the scene in the bathroom really made me want to know more about him. I'm curious to see if there's more to his and Nubsib's friendship, if they are actually even friends at all. Nubsib seems to tolerate him at best, honestly, so the poor boy might just have an unrequited crush and that's it, but I'm thinking there might be more to it than just that.
I was pleasantly surprised with the acting of the main cast. All in all, I'm more excited than I thought I would be about this show, I thought it would end up being really cringy. I have pretty high standards for BL dramas (not to say I won't watch them all, just that I wouldn't rate many of them very high), but this seems pretty good so far. I can't wait for the next episode and to see more shading of the BL industry and its crazy fans. :-)
Edit: emoticons don't work on MDL apparently :'-( this is censorship and i am not being allowed to express myself properly!! /j
honestly i don't really get the comments complaining about the trailer giving away too much or that it shows the kiss scenes - i don't personally feel like i know everything that's going to happen in the show, nor do i feel like it gives away more than most trailers - but hey, maybe it's just me.
as for showing kiss scenes - it seems like a show where the relationship gets established early on and the majority of the show is them trying to work through complications in their relationship from work, so it's not that weird that the trailer shows them kissing and doing couple things. i'm going into this completely blind though so ??♂️ maybe i'm wrong about that.
personally, i'm excited to see it tackle the issue of toxic fans who think they should have any kind of say in the personal life of celebrities (or anyone, for that matter). it's a huge issue with these types of shows, so i hope it portrays this well and maybe teaches said fans something about respecting others.
