Not the best drama, but still enjoyable

There are definitely some questionable writing choices and plot holes, but they're not bad enough to ruin the show. It's an enjoyable watch if you're in the mood for a mafia BL. The first 4 episodes were pretty good and the MLs have great chemistry. Overall, it's decent and doesn't deserve the level of hate it's received.

Short and sweet, but leaves an impression

Overall this series is fairly relaxing and low-stakes with a few important life lessons sprinkled in. It does a really good job of making you care about and feel connected to each character despite its short runtime. Each storyline gets wrapped up nicely, although I would have liked for some of them to be a bit more in-depth, given the length of the series I think they did the best they could. The main theme of the show really resonates with me and I think it's a good lesson for young adults in particular.

As someone who watches a lot of heavier dramas, this was a nice, comforting and heartwarming break. I also really liked how this series showed an lgbtq character in a very casual and normal way, being treated exactly the same as the non-lgbtq characters.

If you're looking for something to pass an afternoon with, this is a great choice. And if you're looking for a new idol, then Grandma has you covered (seriously, she's everything I want to be when I'm older).

No Cat... 0 Stars

Okay, I guess it's still good without the cat, but I feel cheated.

As a long-time fan of the manga, I was worried about this because adaptions of your favourites are never good enough, but I was pretty happy with this one. There were lots of small changes, but the story and characters stayed pretty true. I do feel like it was slightly rushed, and if I hadn't already read the manga several times, I think I would've been a bit confused about some characters and events.

For a newcomer, this might not be the best series, but I highly recommend it if you've read the manga. (I also just recommend reading the manga in general as it's one of my favourites. And the manga has the cat). The drama covers volumes 1-7, but skips a lot of volume 6. There are some characters I wish had more screen time and some scenes I wish were included, but there's only so much that can fit in 8 20-minute episodes.

Overall, it's a fairly good adaption (but it would be better if the cat was in it).

A true cinematic masterpiece; watch it, trust me

This series is so beyond the typical mystery BL that it almost feels unfair to put it in that category. The plotline is interesting and the romance is very heartfelt. The internal struggles of the characters is incredibly well done and though it seems predictable at first, there are many unexpected twists.

The mystery genre as a whole can be very hit or miss, plot twists are often so unexpected that they don't make sense with the story or characters, but Spare Me Your Mercy does it right. It subverts your expectations without breaking the flow of the story.

The cinematography is fantastic and adds to the eerie feeling, as does the music. Though I will say, there are some scenes where the music score is unnecessarily dramatic, but I guess it adds to the 'something bad could happen at any moment' vibe.

And the ending is truly one of the best endings I've ever seen. The show stays authentic to the characters and story until the very end. Every loose end gets wrapped up and I was left feeling completely satisfied.

There are a couple "oh my god, why would you do that?!"/"that's so stupid" moments but it wasn't enough to affect the viewing experience (at least for me). Also I know some of the medical practices aren't 100% accurate but it's probably close enough as long as you aren't using this drama to study for med school exams.

There was so much potential

I wanted to love this series because I really like GeminiFourth, but this just fell short for me. I didn't dislike it, the cast and OST made it an enjoyable watch but I expected more after how incredible My School President was. Speaking of, there were way too many references to MSP (the only one I genuinely liked was in ep 11) and it felt like a desperate attempt to please fans by giving them a hit of nostalgia. The story felt slow and fast at the same time and Atom's clumsiness was downright cringey sometimes, which is so different to how I felt about Gun's clumsiness in MSP. I also didn't feel like I knew the characters that well. Kongthap was so one-dimensional despite being one of the leads, and I don't think I'll remember any of the side characters after a week (except my girlie Mudmee ofc).

But enough of the bad, I would still recommend watching this series mainly for the cast and OST. Gemini and Fourth are obviously very talented and they deserve all the recognition they get. They're both amazing singers as well, which is evident with how good the OST is, each song is a bop and I will be listening to this OST even after I forget the entire plot of this show. Chokun and Aungpao did a great job, wish Aungpao had more screen time tho. But I'm most impressed with Pahn, this is her first series and she absolutely slayed. She was able to deliver emotional scenes in such a natural way and she made me fall in love with Mudmee. Honestly, just watch the show for Pahn, she's worth it.
