I really liked this drama but was just wondering, why didn’t Prince YongRong become emperor? We saw at the end that it was a younger prince who was now emperor (i forget his name) but did Prine YongRong die then bc of ZBW? When Mr. Shen went to speak to ZH after he was almost killed, he said that ZBW wouldn’t be able to do much to Prince YR because he was still related to the emperor. Did he actually die instead or did i miss something?

Haha yeah Ban Hua would definitely be calling the shots lol but to was refreshing to see in a drama. Rong Xia really gave me Pei Heng vibes from romance and the tiger and rose but rx was the main character so it was different. I watched a few clips of neo in the reality tv show called When We Write Love Story and they made these kinda "short films" type things and i think neo and his partner for it had really good chemistry. I have a few other dramas that I had on pause that I wanted to watch before MH but yeah I hope to get to it soon.

Yeah basically! I just finished it and especially near the end there were lots of gender norms that were swapped that I found interesting. Also lots of female empowerment on Ban Hau's part like when she faced feixian. I think both characters suited the actors better like I can't see caesar as rong xia or neo as xiuming. ShinJin was like Xiuming, both generals but one was the ML and one was SML. I've been looking at more shows with neo in it cause I grew to like him a lot and i haven't seen anything else with caesar but ill def look.

I loved that her family wasn't hungry for power or turned on one another. Yeah but I feel like if they really wanted to make a villain out of them they should have had something more like even feixian didn't do much directly against ban hua but she was scheming and was at least smarter about it. Shen jin's sister basically just threw a rock in her path that was just annoying and didn't do anything so I thought it was pointless. I disagree with that lol. I like rong xia/chen an bo much more. You don't understand how frustrated I was with xiu ming when he kept going back to shenjin even though she overreacted about literally everything. Yes he showed authority that one time but all the other times he crawled back to her even though she was in the wrong. Tbh I was rooting for him to get the divorce so I could like his character more. Lol it may be harsh, nothing against the cast or even xiu ming, but shen jin is one of my overall least favorite FL . At least ban hua is smart and figured out what rong xia was planning and was proactive, if it were shen jin, she would have whined all-day and get mad at the wrong person.

Yeah I plan on finishing it today. Oh yeah i like caesar wu and his character was the most bearable for me and its the first time ive seen neo but I really like him now after this. I think he did a rly good job of portraying rong xia, not as strong of a character as xm but I do think he had a different and more elegant aspect to him that I liked even more, since it's less portrayed in dramas where is the "cold and fierce" ML that can get old. Yeah it's different for Ban Hua to be so strong and independent which may not be the most historically accurate but after watching drama after drama of there being a weak and clueless FL, it was very refreshing to see a strong FL so I liked that part particularly.

But haha I do agree that the fish kisses were very awkward. I still liked the family much more in Aglm since they were actually supportive of their children and were entertaining. While in gl her antagonist sisters just tried to make her eat expired food? That’s not even evil just petty. The side characters in gl like SuSu and RouRou I disliked and thought got too much screen time and an unnecessary storyline.

Yes that’s exactly how I would describe the FL in Generals Lady. She was spoiled , weak and constantly nagging her husband! Literally every time she had a problem she would say “do you know who my husband is?” or whine “夫君“. And her cross dressing was so awkward...I really couldn’t stand it and there wasn’t much of an overall point to it anyway. I think Ban Hua is way more independent, capable and doesn’t need a husband to fight all her battles for her.

Yeah I’d say drop it. The ending was supposed to be a “twist” I think but it wasn’t worth it or done properly. I’ve watched romance of the tiger and rose and loved it

I only have five eps left and I have to say I liked the FL, I get what you said abt her being a bit immature but it did get better. A drama that I watched before this was Generals Lady, very similar in genre and everything but I could NOT stand it at all. I finished it in hopes it would get better and to give it a fair chance but it's easily my least favorite drama. That FL was so immature, gullible, whined constantly, and was such a pushover. I didn't like the cast other than the ML but even his character got worse over time. In A Girl Like Me, the characters had much stronger personalities, were actually smart and supportive, and I liked the overall cast much more. These are all just my opinions but after watching both dramas after another this one is significantly better. Maiden Holmes if also on my watchlist and ill def watch it soon.

I finished this drama a month or so ago and its easily one of my all time favourites! I think its the most underrated drama I've ever watched. I know nothing about esports but I was still so engaged in the story and it was such a rollercoaster...wow❣

Tbh i was surprised at how even it was and it was pretty even since they are both in their own year in time and have their own story. But eventually later on I'd say we get more of Xiao Bei's perspective
