the way it ends is meant to be frustrating but it is resolved - law and justice isn't always logical. sarah calls the detective out on this when he tells her what he thinks happened.
sarah makes the point that they actually don't CURRENTLY have any direct evidence and so must release her after the holding time, and if they do, they can't arrest her again until real evidence is provided for a proper arrest warrant (because right now she's "detained" without one - to get a voluntary, coercive or accidental confession), or arrest her on her recorded confession to the murder they're trying to solve even if everyone knows it's not fully true. she has a scar and no calloused hands, the victim doesn't and does - but that's coincidence and conjecture, it could be explained away in so many ways - there is no direct tie without the sample that happens to be missing (personally i think the ex-husband helped her with this, maybe even thinking ahead/he did this without her asking, because she did seem really scared for a moment (i really liked their relationship! they helped eo out a lot) - tho i do think the story makes the young cop purposefully suspicious for fun.
the detective had to choose the greater good in the end, which was arresting her, because whoever she was SHE did commit the crime, even though the story wasn't true. and he got a promotion for it. the younger cop shows a good contrast to someone who doesn't need to "fight" (detective's words) to stay out of patrol and more menial work, but that young cop can pick and choose bc it doesn't really matter.
the story and characters were a lot of fun! her confrontation with jihwon was great, esp when she said he basically conned himself and it's true, they all kind of did it to themselves for being so greedy. and for those who say a lot of ppl knows what she looks like - ya, and what about it? they don't care she killed someone they didn't know, a nobody. nox's ceo got her investment returns, is no longer charged with embezzlement and now fully owns the company. mall ceo wouldn't want to expose she got scammed. ex husband was given a life saving kidney. jihwon lives a luxurious life from his whales, of which sarah was one. the powerful have a lot to lose, and people like sarah don't - until she does, in boudoir, in which she will do anything to protect it. what's 10 years vs. a luxury legacy? 🤷♀️
