Thank you for your well written article. I drop the series after 3 episodes if the drama series are not sharing my values about life and relationships, even when the prominent leading roles are my favorite actors/actresses. It is too painful to watch them in those roles. However, do not take my word for it.
It is a good question. Sometimes watching drama series could be stressful (I stay away from stressful drama series), and I love to watch slow burn romantic drama series that is needed in this chaotic world to de-stress myself.
Mr. Kim Ji-han/Jin Yi Han and Ms. Ryu Hyo-young have excellent on-screen chemistry, one of the best I have ever seen. We really think they have been in love for centuries in “Golden Pouch”. I truly believe I am watching a true story rather than fictional drama series. I truly hope for a happy ending for Dr. Han and Ms. Geum, a match made in heaven. It is profoundly satisfying that at the end Dr. Han Seok-Hoon comes back from a Medical Volunteer Corps and wants to stay next to the love of his life, Miss Geum Seol-Hwa, as a doctor.
I would nominate "Conspiracy in the Court", a timeless masterpiece. It is highly praised for its high standard of content and critically acclaimed. Thank you for your posts and hard work.
I really love traditional language. It's more complex xDThank you for reading!
Thank you so much for your response. Yes, watching historical drama series is enchantment indeed. I would recommend you to watch timeless masterpiece "Conspiracy in the Court", it is a poetry sageuk.
For me, if the Male Lead has a good on-screen chemistry with the Female Lead, I will really support for them, however, if the the Male Second Lead has a really great on-screen chemistry with the Female Lead, I will root for them. But usually, the screenwriter makes the Male Second Lead as a loser, then, I will always root for the Male Lead and the Female Lead.
When I was watching "My Secret Hotel", I like the Male Lead (Goo Hae Young portrayed by Actor Jin Yi Han), however, I was rooting for the Second Lead (Jo Sung Gyum and Nam Sang Hyo portrayed by NamKoong Min and Yoo In Na) since, I felt there was a good on-screen chemistry between Sung Gyum and Sang Hyo. I did not see any chemistry between Hae Young and Sang Hyo whatsoever, their interaction was so annoying.
I was also supporting the Second Lead Jung Hoo and Young Shin in "The Good Supper" (portrayed by Jung Woo Yeon and Kwon Hyuk), they have a good on-screen chemistry. I do not see any chemistry between the Male Lead Gyung Soo (portrayed by Jae Hee) and Young Shin, they look like puppets on the series.
I really like the on-screen chemistry between Dr. Han Seok Hoon and Geum Seol Hwa (portrayed by Jin Yi Han and Ryu Hyo Young). Their on-screen chemistry is amazing and unrivaled.
Thank you again for your article, it made me ponder.
@Yllejord, Thank you for your Sageuk list. I am glad "Conspiracy in the Court" is included in your list, it is a timeless masterpiece sageuk drama. I wish the big broadcasting studios would make epic historical drama again. I enjoy watching "Jeong Do Jeon" and "Empress Ki" and some of the above sageuk as well.
I just finished watching timeless masterpieces "Conspiracy in the Court" and "Jeong Do Jeon", both historical dramas are excellent historical dramas. I may watch "The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won" soon as the comments are encouraging. Thank you so much, guys, for your comments.
For Mr. Jin Yi Han's fan, I would recommend watching my all time favorite drama series, "Empress Ki", "Golden Pouch" and "Conspiracy in the Court. "Conspiracy in the Court" is a classic drama series, of lasting worth and timeless quality, with superb performance by young talented actor Mr. Jin Yi Han. Beautiful original sound track, Seoul's Sad Song. "Empress Ki" is a great epic historical drama series with beautiful cinematography and costumes, and also wonderful original sound tracks. Mr. Jin Yi Han portrays Warrior/Scholar/Teacher/Stateman TalTal that definitely steals the show. Last but not least, "Golden Pouch" is a truly heartwarming family drama series that dwells how to live our lives; it will make you cry and laugh with beautiful four seasons scenes and charming original sound tracks. Actor Jin Yi Han shows his multifaceted performance convincingly as Dr. Han Seok Hoon and his magical unrivaled on-screen chemistry with Actress Ryu Hyo Young.

I recommend Chimera wholeheartedly. It has a good story plot and good acting. However, some scenes are drifting me into sleep and I feel like “reading dry textbooks” that always makes me sleepy. However, Chimera has a lot of twists and turns; it is a worthy drama series to watch.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, indeed, I have my own theory regarding Kang Eun Pyo letting the sniper go, but…
I am humbled. I would think Kang Eun Pyo is/was a pacifist by nature. He let the wounded sniper Cha Tae Kyung go since he knew her as an ordinary woman collecting mushrooms or herbs in the forest. He might believe the truce would come soon that might alter her fate. It is only my two cents, do not take my word for it.
