I was re-watching "Golden Pouch" for the tenth time this past Thanksgiving weekend 2021 and I still really enjoy it very much; the heart wrenching scenes keep playing in my head. Geum Seol Hwa and Dr. Han Seok Hoon "match-made-in-heaven" on-screen chemistry is amazing. It is really a heartwarming story and wishing MBC to make "Golden Pouch" season II to conclude the story with the same cast, Mr. Jin Yi Han and Miss Ryu Hyo Young, Mr. Ahn Nae Sang, Dana and other support cast members, director Mr. Kim Dae Jin and scriptwriter Lee Hye Sun. Bravo. Wish them all the best for the New Year 2022.

I must say I stay away from past/future historical dramas, so that I skip "Mr. Queen". I neglected to mention that I love "Hur Jun, the Original Story" and "Queen Seon Duk". I wish I could watch Jumong one day. It is a pity the major TV Broadcasting studios do not make such fine historical dramas anymore, probably the trend and TV audience prefer fusion historical dramas. I am looking forward for the production of "Goguryeo" by Author Kim Jin-myung's best-selling historical epic series, "Goguryeo". I believe "Goguryeo" will be remade into a blockbuster television series (The Korean Times. June 6, 2021). I keep my fingers crossed.

I really enjoy reading your articulate article. I like watching historical/period Korean Dramas however I do not like to watch any fusion historical dramas. Usually I would research the historical figures before watching any period dramas. My favourites ones are "Empress Ki" and "The King's Face" because I really appreciate the historical figures Toqto'a (TalTal portrayed by actor Jin Yi Han/Kim Ji Han) and Crown Prince/King Gwang Hae (portrayed by Seo In Guk). The actual Historical figure Toqto'a/Taltal let a group of scholars to write dynastic histories literature, rerouted Yellow River to Grand Canal to improve irrigation, defeated Red Turban Rebellions before being killed. The historical figure King Gwang Hae, as a politician did achieve a balancing act between Empire Ming and Manchu to avoid another war and restored diplomatic relationship with Japan.

I wish the Korean TV Broadcasting companies would make more epic historical dramas and not-popular-fusion-historical-dramas. Thank you again for your article. Stay safe and take care.

I just started watching "My Secret Hotel" episode 1 to 3 but I wonder why Nam Sang Hyo keeps on beating Goo Hae Young whenever they meet. She must be an abusive ex-wife. Where are the parents during the wedding ceremony between Goo Hae Young, the prodigy-son, and his young daughter-of-wealthy-family future wife? I do not get it. Usually in Asian cultures, parents are the most important individuals especially for wedding ceremonies. I will keep dragging my legs to watch this satirical drama that parodying mystery story.

I hope they do not cancel the series, I hope they will recruit new cast.

@mhandhey Mr. Ahn Nae Sang did facilitate the whole crews to do well in "Golden Pouch", he won the 2017 MBC Drama Awards: Golden Acting Award, Actor in a Soap Opera "Golden Pouch". I really enjoy the "Golden Pouch" series because it tells us about how to live our lives to the fullest, and the meaning of families in our lives. The wisdom and advice from Mr. Geum Jung-do to his adopted son (Dr. Han Seok-Hoon) and his three daughters (Geum Doo-na, Geum Seol-hwa, and Geum Se-na) are so meaningful and heartwarming. Mr. Ahn Nae Sang did say on his acceptance speech for his 2017 MBC Drama Awards ceremony that "Golden Pouch" is a very good drama but it has low rating because it was aired during the presidential election in Korea.

Exactly, I love how they apply the OST on certain scenes, the OST is so beautiful and matches our mood as well. Actor Jin Yi Han is an excellent leading man that makes actress Ryu Hyo Young stands out in her performance. They are the best on-screen chemistry couple so far. I cry and laugh so much watching "Golden Pouch", the show comforts me so much.

@mhandhey I have not found one that is as good as "Golden Pouch" but probably "My Golden Life" with Park Shi Hoo and Shin Hae Sun is my recommendation. "Golden Pouch" is my all time favorite. I keep on re-watching "Golden Pouch" again and again.

Golden Pouch is a beautiful story Kdrama, it is underrated Kdrama. Golden Pouch is my all time favorite, the story comforts me.

Yes indeed, the rating should be higher. I hope you like the show as much as I do. It is my all time favourite Kdrama. I have been watching the show many many many times, it always comfort me and makes me happy.

Abeoji (Father) Lee Chul Soo is a saint. I-mo (Aunt) Oh Bong Ja is an angel and a true guardian angel to her nieces and younger sister and all son-in-laws and most importantly she protects Chul Soo.

I cannot stand the third daughter Lee Kwang Tae, she is so childish after she gets married into a wealthy family. She starts the show as a good woman but I am surprised she becomes a nasty "Nouveau riche" especially to her hard worker/poor second sister Lee Kwang Shik. The first daughter Lee Kwang Nam seems to grow up and matures so quickly; I am amazed how Kwang Nam deals with her annoying mother in law adroitly.

Please Rest In Peace. Our thoughts and prayers to her families left behind.

The twist of events that a guardian is falling in love with his protégé is so alarming and makes me uncomfortable watching “A Good Supper”. I would urge MBC and other major broadcasting companies to put forth a summary that indicate a romantic relationship between a guardian and his/her adoptee so that the audience would be able to choose to watch or avoid this type of love story. Not everyone is comfortable with the love story between a guardian and his adoptee.

Love Actor Kim Ji Han in "Golden Pouch" as Dr. Han Seok Hoon character and ""Empress Ki" as Scholar/Warrior/Teacher TalTal. Actor Kim Ji Han can interpret his characters so well and tells the stories with his "quiet eyes". He steals the show in "Empress Ki" and TalTal's statement, "You call this a dance" is unforgettable. His character in "Cross" as Dr. Lee Joo-Heyok works as a catalyst and moves the story forward. I hope he gets prominent leading roles in new projects, either Mini Series or weekend K-Drama. He is dearly missed by his fans.

Keep my fingers crossed for the second lead Cho Woo In character.

@maria This is a drama that does not make viewers stressful, no villains to dislike. They are all likeable in their own way.

Best performance by In Seo in episode 78, the young actor Ok Jin Uk interprets In Seo character with his "young adult angst" so well. Wishing Sang Min chooses to chase his dream in arts and appreciates Ga Eun's support.
