I think he's just grateful to the him as the father who raised him but damn what a dysfunctional dad he is. Also you'll notice that at the end he stops addressing the poisoned Khan as Father Khan and addresses as Father. That's some complicated family dynamics!!

Well she went to see him because she was planning to leave to rescue Sun. He told her the truth about her mom and that he had pledged to keep her safe and that if she left he would not be able to fulfil his promise to her mom and that all of Sun's hard work trying to keep her safe would be for nothing. Yes such a touching scene. I was happy for them because he always treated her like his daughter..
