what do you consider a makeout? also, I just glanced at your profile..girl, your favourite couple from The Double, where romance is the major draw, has a 12 year age gap..the youngest just turning 21 during filming. They did all sorts of shippy promotions too. Reset is not even a romance.

Well in the drama, her character is 20 and he is 25. And there was no unnecessary makeout or fondling for us to…
Read my comment please. I quit. I am NOT talking about CEO dramas, I am talking about RESET. I SAID I KNOW THERE IS A MASSIVE ISSUE OF AGE GAP DEPICTIONS IN MEDIA BUT THIS DRAMA AIN'T IT. WHY DO YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THE ACTORS' REAL AGES? THE ONLY REASON THE ACTORS' AGE WOULD MATTER IS IF THERE WERE SAFEGUARDING CONCERNS AND SHE WERE AN ACTUAL MINOR. Also, where have I mentioned shipping? I don't ship anyone. I'm just enjoying a mystery/thriller. Why would you even bring up shipping here, it's not even a romance genre. And I don't fucking watch CEO dramas so can't talk on them. ACTING is a JOB, both the actors on Reset are adults to make decisions and there is no sexually charged scene that could have been prime for abuse. Look up, Falling Into You, Nothing But You, Find Yourself etc for your power disparity romanticism (again don't bring up age here cuz that ain't what I said).

where did you see the "makeout" in question? It was a peck. Also, age of consent is irrelevant here because they didn't have sex, they were working together. Acting is a job. There was no unnecessary cuddling, canoodling, kissing or anything. There was 1 kissing scene that was a brief peck. Nothing that suggests that the younger actor had been exploited. You are free to still find it "creepy" but applying the moral panic lens here is kind of inappropriate.

Oh...so, its more about looks with you? I didn't even consider that because to me Li Shiqing genuinely looked 21-23 and Xiao Heyun 25-27. And I felt the chemistry throughout, it didn't feel forced like most other cdramas out there to me. You're just not vibing with it I guess. Which is fine. I DO know and understand that age gap issue is a problem throughout media depictions because:
1: it either normalises problematic age gaps (i.e. teenagers with adults or early 20s with late 20s-early 30s)
OR
2: has minor or very young actors engage in sexually charged scenes with much older actors.

IMO, this show has none of that. The characters are 21 and 25 which I don't think is a problematic dynamic, especially considering the heightened circumstances of the plot and secondly, there are no overtly sexual/physical scenes that may bring about safeguarding/exploitation concerns for the younger actor. Now, you not liking the dynamic because their looks don't suit your aesthetics is another issue that's more to do with personal taste. You're not fully right to apply morality on that lens here. Also, I don't agree with this sentence: "I am pretty sure if this was a 19 yr old guy with a 30 yr old woman this page would be filled with what I am saying rn and we wouldn't be having this convo", as the age gap issue is very mainstream on internet media discussions nowadays, this is not the early 2000s. Audiences on the internet are more aware of how ageism sexualises teenage/young girls and disregards older women (now, whether the public in the real world are just as aware, is another discussion). In fact many, older female/younger male dramas where they romaticise unequal power dynamics like coach/trainee, boss/junior, fly through the radar unflagged.

she does regain her eyesight eventually. she can also see the future in her dreams.drama is adapted from a novel…
I made a mistake. I meant to say Xu Chong Xu's ex wife not Qian Zi. I thought Xu Chong Xu would be the ML, based on what I saw in Pearl Eclipse (so, I just used the name of the ML here, not realising that they are different characters).

Thank you so much @LilyOfTheValley18 and @pepperonibee for explaining. Yeah, I realised I made a mistake; I meant to say Tilan was the sister of Xu Chong Xu's ex wife (I got the name wrong because I thought Xu Chong Xu would be the ML, coming from Pearly Eclipse). If that's still the case in Valerian Flower, is Xu Chong Xu the antagonist in this? I don't mind spoilers. I really liked Tilan and Xu Chong Xu's angst ridden, toxic/tragic storyline in Pearl Eclipse but I'm gueessing we might not get it here.

in the first place, he copied the history books, so.... did he credit the possibly alive or dead author too ?…
The reason why his works aren't a copy and the drama's designs are because his designs aren't direct recreation of historical artifacts. They are speculative drawings based on historical research (which was probably a lot of hard work). However, the drama team just straight up plucked the designs from his books and plopped it on Zhang Yaqin's head. Didn't even bother to change much. Also, just wanted to share that if the drama team had directly copied a legit historical artifact (from a museum), then that wouldn't be plagiarism as those designs are now in public domain (i.e. no one holds copyright); but they didn't copy historical artifacts, they copied a design that was made by another living human being who still holds the copyright.

Have you read the book? If so, could I ask you something? I've heard that this is the story of Novoland Pearl Eclipse's 2nd couple. If that's the case, Ti Lan should be the sister of Qian Zi's ex wife and hat's what causes friction amongst them. Was this part in the book? Because the synopsis is so different from their set up in Pearl Eclipse.

It was part of the plot point for her to be a student and him to be a game developer..i guess they could've had him as a student of game design, to have the same necessary skills. Also, they fall in love through extraordinary circumstances, so it cant be applied to regular life. They literally went through multiple lifetimes together. Also, 20 year olds graduate from Uni after 1 more year. I personally dont think 5 year is a big age gap. But yeah, I can't really change your opinion if you still find it creepy. I'd have understood it a bit better if it was about Li Yunrui and Huang Yang Tiantian's pairing. As she's still a minor.

How could they keep things on their phones, such as the picture of the molester? I also wish they would have managed…
She didnt keep it in her phone. When Li Shiqing spoke to the witness in the previous cycle. She asked the witness, whether she had kept the photo on a cloud somewhere. Then the witness gave her the password and ID of her cloud account, so she could access the photo. Li Shiqing then memorised the password and id and accessed the picture in the final loop. They even mentioned the fact about her memorising the details in the next scene, after she met with the witness. When she goes back to Xiao Heyun's hospital room, and he is worried that he wont return to the loop, he asks her to properly memorise capt zhang's number and the witness' cloud id+password. When she wakes up in the next cycle, she even recites the info back to herself.

why are they trying to boycott it?
They are not criticising Dilraba, they are criticising her styling. So, they are basically criticising the costume designer and production. Not Dilraba.

I am liking the looks, head peace in the recent pic looks unique. And the pastel dress from yesterday looked so…
People are just coming off seeing Huang Wei's (the costume designer) costumes for Dream within a dream and honestly, LBTG is underwhelming, comparatively so far...with a few absolute disasters, at the beginning of filming. The whole vibe is giving TTEOM, which now, is outdated and honestly wasn't even that good in the first place...Male lead costumes are quite alright though.
