there's nothing wrong with being a prude. some people aren't comfortable with nsfw content, and some producers…
I didn't say there was and there are plenty of those types of dramas around. I personally enjoy shows that have the balls to challenge or push the envelope in some way.
This drama had a USP at the beginning of being a lighthearted, somewhat campy fish-out-of-water comedy which suited the sitcom look and budget. That was abandoned halfway through for run-of-the-mill melo tropes and the show never recovered. On the bright side, Taec showed considerable improvement in his range, although I don’t think he’ll ever be an exceptional dramatic actor. Won Jian is one to watch. I’d like to see her in a meatier role.
Honestly this is how every show on this website should be rated. 7.7 isn't even bad its just everyone here is…
In my rating system, 7 is "good", 6 is "fair" and 5 is "average" etc. But the way users on this site rate things, 70% of dramas ever made are great or better which is just not plausible.
I feel like the first half was kinda slow and the romance could've done with more buildup. Then in the second half they veered towards the old psycho second FL shtick. Manhwi is also not a very charismatic or interesting villain. I hope they don't go too far down the noble idiocy path.
I was willing this drama to be good and holding out hope until the bitter end but it never really materialised. The writing was too simplistic, characterisation was shallow and lot of the dramatic potential of the plot/scenario was not realised. I resorted to watching this in the background and I was relieved when it was over. I actually think Wok of Love is better as Junho's representative romcom. I seem to remember he was less constrained and deliberate in that role. Yoona fit her character well, though. Upsides were the female friendship group, the music and the cinematography in places.
Genuine question but why do they still mention 2PM whenever they talk abt Junho? Not that i have anything against…
Standard practice for idol actors. Junho debuted in 2008 with 2PM. The group has been a household name for a decade and a half in Korea and they're still active, even if it's not often. Plus, Junho went viral a couple of years back before The Red Sleeve for his My House fancams so there's definitely a strong awareness that he's a singer.
Mixed feelings so far. Yoo Insoo's character is irritating and I'm not loving the direction of the narrative where Ma Juseok becomes a villain and the whole season is spent trying to beat him without killing him whilst trying to bring him back from the dark side. I don't know, I guess I just wanted more backstory about each of our existing characters. But it's still fun so that's enough to keep me watching.
