I'm not feeling the sympathy that a lot of people feel for the king though. He's a good interesting villain but I don't think there is much he can do to redeem himself in my eyes. He's so selfish and psycho.
I'm enjoying this a lot. I thought the first several episodes were fine. But around episode 8 or so with the plot fully underway, it' got on the edge of my seat and the tension between the characters is so dramatic and romantic! I'm almost all caught up. I hope it continues being good. I'm am almost alway disappointed with historical dramas.
I don't think it's great for family watching. Even though I haven't seen anything really racy so far, there are adult themes like cheating spouses and significant others. It's supposed to be funny and charming, but I don't see the humor in it really. I really don't understand why the cheating spouse is supposed to be so funny and why we are supposed to sympathize with this character while his wife is portrayed unsympathetically. Actually I have watched about 7 episodes and am thinking of dropping it. I am not agreeing with all the favorable reviews and tend to agree with the few bad ones. I started it because of the premise of the 40 something guys who are best friends since childhood. That kind of stuff usually appeals to me. But I'm just not into any of the characters. The friendship isn't charming me. The couple interactions seem really repetitive. I also find the behavior and facial expressions of the female lead extremely annoying. Every episode I am growing more and more annoyed whenever she comes onscreen.
Not that it's perfect, but I think it's entertaining and like the couple's chemistry. I enjoy Ji Chang Wook playing a softer character and look forward to it each week.
I don't know why people are blaming Joo Man. I feel their problems have more to do with Seol Hee's self-esteem…
I kind of agree. That's why this drama is so good. All the characters have their point of view and I can relate to all of them. I sympathize with Seol Hee too. She isn't ambitious in the same way as Joo Man. It's not really her fault either. It feels like a real relationship.

I had much the same head over heels feelings as you describe when watching this. I was so in love with these characters that I felt depressed for at least a week after finishing it. I think of all the dramas I've watched it is the one that wrenched my heart the most. I just couldn't get over the last part of it.
Guys, I've been wondering, Dong Man used to do taekwondo so why does he compete in MMA tournaments?
I don't mind that much because I love this show so far. But the MMA storyline is so unrealistic. I wish it had a little more substance. Why is he getting beaten up by that beginner at the gym if he is supposed to be so talented? The training they show at the gym looks like nothing. But he was supposed to be so good in the past. They should show more scenes of him training and getting his old skills back. It seems like he has magic powers that just kick in in dramatic moments. It's the one part of this drama that I think is kind of weak. And it doesn't make sense for him to just jump into MMA without training. He'd get seriously hurt. But yeah, it's for the drama.
That scene in the hospital room when the 2 doctors were discussing her IBS and her gas was so funny. And one of the doctors was her date. I was laughing out loud. Poor Ae Ra!
I kept waiting for the super powers to become a bigger part of the show. I am kind of sucker for those dramatic entrances when the superhero comes in and saves the day. But you are right, it wasn't really necessary to the story - kind of superfluous. And they didn't do enough with it.
