Usually in long format dramas there is annoying love triangle in every drama where the female romances the second lead more than 60% of the time. Here the drama was little different. There was no love triangle between the leads and not even among the secondary couples. It was a pure romance drama.
The premise was interesting. I thought the drama would be fun too. But it is not so. Its a package of boredom. The actors stand like statues while delivering dialogues. Its even too slow. The second male lead very annoying. The FL spends way too much time with 2nd ML. There is too much interaction between them and a lot of dialogues. There is hardly any romance between the leads.
Chinese dramas are famous for sad and terrible endings and love triangles so terrible that the female lead even gets married to 2nd male lead before going backing to 1st male lead around last episode. This drama and another drama "forever and ever" were breather of fresh air. The couples were together from start to end with no break up and loving each other form start to end. One can really enjoy cute moments and romance between the main couple.
The starting episodes of the drama are funny and lough riot. After 20 episodes the drama becomes more political and has some un digestible tragedies like the concubines dying, the cousin's suicide and killing of a woman's husband and raping her the very next day.
