I don't think there's an English version. And I won't recommend to google translate it. The original novel contains a huge amount of ancient Chinese sayings and poems. The writing is really beautiful, like an art. Only reading in Chinese will give you the full understanding of the story and the characters.
i fully dunno some discussions here maybe i skipped lots of scenes except MLs’ ones LOL…the most hurting thing…
The original novel's writer post a Weibo and said this drama will give Fangzhu another way of living. So I guess there's a chance of a happy ending. The writer's Weibo made me cry. She explained what does Fangzhu mean in ancient Chinese. Fangzhu means a special species of giant clam that can produce pearls. Fangzhu spent his life bringing up his pearl (Haishi), protect her, keep her away from danger and harm. And finally, when the pearl is perfect and beautiful, the clam is killed to get the pearl out. That is the destiny of the clam, born to be killed for the pearl. That's why Fangzhu give Haishi a full box of pearls (Huzhu in ancient Chinese) when she get married to the emperor, just to tell her how precious she is for him. And also that is why Haishi is called Madame Huzhu.
