Title Spring over Phoenix Pond Spoiler
uhm she isn't unreasonable. didn't she grew up in the countryside? realistically, fl wouldn't learn etiquette…
first, i understand that this is a historical drama and filial piety was an important principle in the ancient times, but in fl's case, she didn't even grew up with her noble clan. she grew up in the countryside. let's just say that she may not learned the noble's proper etiquette, but filial piety was still taught. that's why she never fought back against her parents in her first life because of this traditional norm. if you understand her character, you should know that she was powerless in the past. she couldn't physically fight back against her oppressors and even with no family backing her up. she was all alone until ml saved her, then learned martial arts.
not everyone have the same coping mechanism. fl literally fights back against those who mistreats her. her being "disrespectful" isn't even poor writing, for the sake of showing her independence/new self. her actions stem from two factors: first, she grew up in the countryside, in a butcher family. she learned no proper etiquette. she also didn't grew up in a loving adoptive household, thus it's hard to make a child feel indebted to her guardians if they didn't even create a safe and loving space to begin with. then, even her biological parents were horrible to her. no matter the time and culture, it is human nature to feel indifferent/loathsome towards those who wronged you, regardless of bloodline. second, she's reborn. and even in her second life, she still experienced the same and she would end up the same fate if she wouldn't fight back.
when she slapped her mother and brother, do you think it's really disrespectful even after all the mistreatment they did? yes, this was her second life and they haven't done those YET. her mother, her brother, her father, if she won't show them that she's not to be mess with, they'll still think that she's so easy to bully just like in her last life.
also, she saved her clan from danger multiple times, but even with those life-saving actions she did for her clan, her mother still showed no remorse. it doesn't matter if she defends herself by hurting them too or not, it's all the same. she could've earned a place in the clan by saving them from life-and-death situations, but her mother and brother would still willingly abandon her in times of crises, without a second thought. but even this "saving them from mess" scheme wouldn't work if she won't show them that they can't hurt her again.

additionally, she's only "disrespectful" towards her parents, grandfather, and others who mistreated her. she wasn't arrogant towards her own maid and her brother's ex-fiancee. she even treated her grandmother respectfully (she actually cared for her grandparents). she still showed signs of filial piety when she saved the clan from problems, even from almost clan annihilation. even if all her actions of saving the clan was for herself (to have a support) at first, eventually, when her grandparents showed her genuine care especially her grandmother, she still did her best to save them because after all she's gone through, she finally have a home.
i mean, you do you, but i can't help but defend the female lead for her actions because realistically, if you're in her shoes, you would've probably done the same. i forgot to point out that female lead was only "disrespectful" towards the first half of the drama when she was still hurt and broken. when she was finally loved, she was slowly healing and became less "aggressive and arrogant".

I find this series disappointing. It had a lot of potential, but the female lead's personality completely ruined…
uhm she isn't unreasonable.

didn't she grew up in the countryside? realistically, fl wouldn't learn etiquette if she wasn't taught in the first place. her family already branded her as unruly when she just arrived because she was raised by some butcher family. even when she didn't do anything yet, they already assumed her behavior. her parents don't deserve her respect, period. they made her life miserable in her first life so why would she respect them? it's not about, "they're are still her parents" but what about her? they knew she was abused by her adoptive family yet they're only concerned about how she "murdered" them? in her first life, when she arrived in the residence, she was framed, abused, and mistreated again by her blood relatives. she's their biological daughter yet they didn't even give her a chance to explain herself, not even giving her some dignity. she didn't disobey her parents. she accepted all their unjust punishments and lived a miserable life because of it. now that she's given a second chance in life, you want the fl to treat those family members who never spared her in the first place, some respect? then that's unrealistic. she isn't unreasonable or what because she wouldn't treat her maid better and others who treated her well in the past.

i can't believe you expect characters to adhere toxic traditional values, despite knowing what they've gone through. that traditional values were the one that made fl's life miserable, because if fighting back against elders who done you wrong is acceptable, she would've done so in her first life. in short, do you expect a victim to be so respectful towards those people who made her a victim?

she would be unreasonable treating them disrespectfully if they treated her well from the start, but they didn't.

if she wasn't a bloodline of the qi clan, i wouldn't be surprised if yuan decided to bring them down as a revenge because they definitely deserve to be mistreated.

So I've watched a drama months ago and now, I suddenly want to know the title name again.

From what I remember, the plot is about the female lead transmigrating in the past as a wife of the male lead. Unlike other fl who eventually decided to stay in the past, this fl is really eager to leave no matter what happens. I'm not sure but I think she has a system that tells her how long does she have left until she's no longer have the chance to leave. Fl seems also to be business-minded because I remember she had some heated fight with her sister in law but they reconciled in the end because fl left her some wealth before she came back in the modern world. Also, fl had tried many ways to leave including some sort of rituals afair. Then the ml don't want her to leave. i already forgot some details but fl successfully came back in her era and live her life as a wealthy heiress. But then she was arranged marriage with a wealthy heir who turned out to be the ml who followed her. Then the end was they can still communicate with her in laws in the past through the system.

Please can anyone tell the name of the drama.

Thank you.

i think the reason xiao xun and xie yanfang have more power than the old ministers was because of their powerful…
yes that's also the problem. the xiao and xie were said to be prominent and powerful clans but aside from the heirs' scheming, they didn't really show how powerful the clans were. it's mostly offscreen

Title Ashes to Crown Spoiler
This drama is not terrible, but is not very good either... I liked the beginning (I was expecting a Kunming palace…
i think the reason xiao xun and xie yanfang have more power than the old ministers was because of their powerful backing/clans. they're also scheming; difficult to outsmart.

Person Zhang Chu Xuan Spoiler
This one is really, really good and creative (at least for me), even if highly misandrist.I guess, many female…
how is this highly misandrist when this drama is clearly about two women (and more women) surviving and thriving against the patriarchal and misogynistic systems built by men. misandry is a prejudice against men, and in this drama, it's the men who oppressed women and limited them into just a "housewife". this would be misandry if men treated the fls better, but both of their husbands betrayed them first. the fil, specifically, humiliated and oppressed the mil for years, and even her son followed the father's footsteps. also, the drama even highlighted how men refused to give their daughters proper education because for them, it would be useless since after all, daughters marry into the groom's household. and education would be of no use for women because they're not allowed to participate in any academic work such as being a scholar and an official. if this was highly misandrist, it would be the men receiving such prejudice. this drama is empowering women; it's not encouraging manhating.

the husbands deserved their fate because not only they oppress women, but also did illegal acts such as embezzlement.

Title Glory
For me, cold, manipulative, scheming characters who never change and only grow worse toward their partner are…
yes, this is also my view tbh. i'm just annoyed with some people who have double standards specifically when female characters gets hate (e.g.: for being red flag) but the opposite sex gets love despite having the same characteristics as the female characters they hate.
