"Gained so much traction"? 100,000 out of 51,000,000 is less than 0.2%. In other words, HARDLY ANYONE IN SOUTH…
Gaining traction doesn’t always Maine down to statistics. By stating the population numbers there’s the implication that the entire population intended to watch it. WRONG!

The mere fact that it’s happening, that JTBC released a statement, that it’s even being reported on is enough. Jeez! Lighten up already

Korean netizens are toxic and push celebrities to suicide like every year.If you think this is about history then…
If you read my post I clearly stated I wasn’t making any claims about understanding the anger behind the petition. I’m not saying they’re right. I’m saying I’m sick and tired or people imposing their beliefs on others. Let’s be clear. The discussion isn’t about how “toxic” netizens may be, and neither is it about the alarmingly high rate of suicides in the Korean entertainment industry. This discussion is about the show and its future.
With regard to your statement that it would’ve been so easy to change the character names... Anytime a production company takes it upon itself to tell a story, whether it’s loosely based on real people or not, then this sort of response from their public should surprise no one. Kudos on JTBC actually releasing that statement to clarify their stance.

I’m done This is exhausting :)

Normally I wouldn't comment but here goes. We talk about #StopAsianHate but we (particularly non Koreans) appear to be imposing our own cultural values and beliefs upon South Koreans. As a people they have their own cultural values and beliefs and I. don't think it's fair to minimize why the petition has gained so much traction.

Yes, it's "just a drama" to us foreign fans but it's about more than than that to those pushing the petition. I won't pretend to fully know and understand the sentiment and anger behind it but can "we" just be respectful and just backoff!? First amendment and whatever else that applies to other nations are our laws, etc. Not theirs.

This is NOT an attack on anyone posting. Just an opinion.

'Nuff said... :)
