Yeah, I think you're right about the suffering in Chinese dramas. I recently started to watch Chinese dramas, after completing most of the historical Korean dramas that I was interested in.
At first I was not sure if I will have a patience to watch something with more than 20 episodes, but I was immediately hooked by the first one - Love between fairy and devil. After finishing it I wanted more dramas like that, but I read comments that it's quite different from the standard cdrama hahha.
Joke's on me, just like it was with my first kdrama -Moonlovers 😂
I'm currently on ep.13 and I don't know why but I just can't get into it. In theory it should be a perfect drama for me, but it doesn't click with me so far. I like the FL a lot, maybe the ML is the problem here because I would prefer Yan Lin or even Zhang Zhe to be the one to end up with FL. Anyway, I hope it would get better for me in the next episodes.

Thank you! I plan to watch them but I was thinking to see first TPOB. Is it better to watch AJTL before that? I will watch everything with Liu Yu Ning in it anyway. Also I was asking about similar MLs in terms of the character, not the actor, sorry if my ask is confusing. Like how Nan Heng is similar to Wang So. Or is the actor playing the same character in all these dramas?
It's hands down the best drama I've seen this year so far. I liked everything - from the characters, the plot, the acting, the OST to the satire and the comedic elements. Most of it I loved Nan Heng, he's such a deep character. At the beginning I couldn't stop comparing him to Wang So from Moonlovers, one of my favorite ML. They are pretty similar in terms of tragic backstory, motivation, even visually in some of the scenes I was having a flashback. It would be fun if they did the rain scene from Moonlovers but I understand they were pointing at Chinese dramas only :) It's the first drama I watched with Liu Yu Ning and now I'm going to see all of his other projects, I just liked his acting so much. Can someone recommend me dramas with similar ML?
