She has mental disorder due to childhood trauma. Just focus on the story. No need to use her as an example for…
I said I was enjoying the story. I wasn't complaining about the writing. I was expressing my disbelief in the reaction to her character. I made the point about the role reversal because I thought it would illustrate why I don't agree with people who are complimenting her. However, I will delete that part of my comment as I don't want to start up an SJW fight.
I don't mind an unlikable female lead and I'm enjoying this drama but I can't say I agree with the people who are actually complimenting her, especially not the ones who are applauding her for the way she's going after KT.
Ever since the beginning this drama has always felt like it's on the brink of something happening. I keep watching just because I keep expecting it to develop into something but so far it hasn't. The opening scene of the first episode (the treason scene if I remember correctly) was the best scene so far.
I'm finding the main characters and their love story really lackluster. I've forgotten everyone's names already but in terms of the characters I basically just like FL's cop friend and ML's bodyguard. I also like the mystery elements of the story, just not at all invested in the romance. I'm more interested in Luna (only name I remember) than FL and she's barely even in it.
I think this is getting off to a really slow start. That being said there's something about it that I like so I'm going to stick with it and hope it picks up the pace. Most K-dramas I've liked started out fast paced but became either boring or tedious by about episode 10 so maybe this one will be the reverse. Healer got off to a really slow start but that's one of the few that I actually enjoyed finishing (some I just finished because I was close to the end so I thought I might as well).
I started this drama just because I didn't have anything else to watch so I thought I'd give it a go. I had low…
I liked Myungsoo in ALM which is partly why I gave this one a try although I still say it was mainly due to boredom that I began watching as I was very skeptical of the plot. I wasn't expecting to be hit so hard by Seo Ji Hoon but there you go. I'm now watching all his other dramas. I hope he gets a male lead in a good drama one day.
Everything about this drama has always been wrong, the writing sucks so much and there's no character building…
I started this drama just because I didn't have anything else to watch so I thought I'd give it a go. I had low expectations and I'm still disappointed. If you didn't come for L which I think many did, you stay for Jae Sun. Unfortunately he's an odd mix of being both the best and worst written character in the series. He has the most interesting back story, he has many good traits such as his protectiveness and sympathy/empathy for all abandoned things and I think he's played by the best actor in the cast. He's also got a sweeter more romantic story with the lead although it's certainly not perfect. I like some of the details such as them eating porridge together before school and the way they sit on the bench (this latter detail has sort of been given to Hong Jo and Sol Ah which in my opinion is stupid, they should get their own thing, especially since with Jae Sun it was rooted in how he sat with the nun in the orphanage when he got abandoned). Even Jae Sun's obnoxiousness doesn't really bother me as it comes in useful sometimes like when he confronted the cat hoarder with his suspicions. It's frustrating to see such an interesting character go to waste on a love triangle.
I love Hong Jo, Sol Ah and Jae sun but honestly the writing sucks; one more time they used the same " love triangle…
Are you sure? I thought he was expecting Hong Jo to leave completely, not just turn into a cat but I might have misunderstood. As for Jae Sun being concerned about the cat-human relationship, yes that much is understandable and not out of character.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, what you said about Hong Jo being a cat and therefore not easily getting attached to Jae Sun, that is one of the reasons why I think this would have been better if the main couple had been Sol Ah and Jae Sun and there had been no love triangle (I'm so sick of love triangles). Hong Jo could have just been the catalyst for their relationship. However, since Hong Jo is capable of falling in love with his owner (which I don't think most cats are) he should also be capable of forming a bond with Jae Sun.

Yes you've summed it up. One episode Jae Sun is frantically trying to save Hong Jo, the next he wants to throw Hong Jo out onto the streets without any care for what happens to him. I suppose that's because he realises that Sol Ah has feelings for human Hong Jo but even so it's too much of a U turn. There are so many things that point to Jae Sun being a kind and responsible person but when the writers want to force the love triangle on us he's suddenly the opposite. They should at least make the love triangle funny like in the neuter Hong Jo scene. Writers need to realise we prefer bromance over love triangles.
Jae Sun is by far the best character but the writers keep butchering him for the sake of creating drama between the two leads. They should at least write him consistently. If they wanted him to be the jerk who keeps getting in the way they should just have made him that instead of also making him the protective friend/cat lover with a sympathetic back story. I'm going to drop this because it's too annoying. When it's all over I'll probably just watch his scenes because I want to know what happens to him. Everyone else enjoy.
I completely agree with this and your comment above... Lee Jae Seon seems to have major abandonment issues but…
Actually that scene made me hopeful that they've wrapped up the love triangle. At the moment I'm not worried they'll discard him. He's the only one that knows about Hong Jo and that might get dragged out for a little bit, at least I hope so. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, it makes me wonder where they're going with Jaeseon. They didn't make him the usual loveable second lead, nor did they make him the antagonist. It's not a bad thing to break the mold but they haven't done it very well in this case so I can't say it's refreshing. At this point I'm just hoping we'll at least get a good bromance between him and Hong Jo and they won't drag out the love triangle. Have you seen the latest episode (spoiler if not)? It was heartbreaking when Jaeseon realised he was too late. Personally I would have preferred it if there was no love triangle and Hong Jo was the catalyst for her relationship with Jaeseon but that's just not what this drama is. I'm still enjoying it but I'm worried for Jaeseon.
i was thinking the same thing... because this literally never happens and this is already the second time in two…
Unfortunately they also spent a lot of time making Jaeseon unlikeable in the beginning. I think he'll only be fully redeemed in the eyes of the audience if he doesn't end up with Solah. If they planned for the second lead to get the girl they really shouldn't have butchered him from the start. I have a longer comment about the way they wrote him below. The logistics of her ending up with Hong Jo wouldn't stop the writers if that's how they've planned it to end.
I just realised that Seo Ji-hoon has got the girl in two different dramas where he wasn't even the lead. Bizarre for that to happen twice since it barely happens at all. To be fair, one of the dramas wasn't a romance drama so I suppose it didn't exactly break the rom-com mold. I did wonder at the beginning of this drama if his character was going to end up with the lead but after the latest episodes I don't think he will. Although I have second lead syndrome I don't want him to end up with her as most people won't like that and I don't want there to be more reason for people to hate him. I also get why people wouldn't like that and I hate to admit it but it wouldn't be the right way for the drama to go.
Seo Ji Hoon keeps getting the girl even though he's not the main lead. At least it happened twice but that's plenty for K-dramas which rarely differ from the mold. I want him to have a proper lead role though, not just get the girl.
I really like the ML in this which is the main reason I'm watching. I don't feel anything towards the female lead. I guess I agree she is a bit dull. TBH, that female character at the beginning whose mother asked ML for help was more interesting and we barely even knew her.
This is an unpopular opinion but I actually really like Jae Sun and I also feel frustrated with how he’s been written. I think I’ve figured out the reason for my cognitive dissonance. His flaws are actually really implausible and I therefore find it difficult to hold them against him. On top of that, there’s a well written likeable side to him that could've made him a good first lead if the story had been different. It’s frustrating to see that go to waste.
The main aspect in which he's badly written is his infamous misunderstanding and subsequent behaviour. No one would make such a ridiculous leap unless they suffer from some kind of legitimate insanity. If I met someone who irrationally accused me of abandoning a kitten as an explanation for why they stood me up I would assume he was a liar, that he didn't really believe I had abandoned a kitten, that he abandoned me because he's unreliable and that he was lying because he's manipulative. The problem is, this isn't what the writers were going for. Jae Sun never accuses Sol Ah of anything, he just keeps it to himself which is also an implausible decision. We're meant to believe that Jae Sun really did misunderstand and that he abandoned her out of fear. If he had fear of abandonment wouldn't that make him starving for a committed relationship? To be with someone he can trust? I don't think fear of abandonment would make him abandon someone else.
To make matters worse (or better), Jae Sun is actually not unreliable. In fact, he looks out for Sol Ah really well from when she moves in opposite him, up to where the story is now. He also took care of Hong Jo and is now covering for him. These aspects of his character are well written. It makes sense that he would be concerned for his friend of 10 years and look out for her. It also makes sense that he cares for Hong Jo as he himself was abandoned. I think this is why I find Jae Sun likeable. His flaws feel manufactured by the writers to get the drama rolling. I realise that's what writers are meant to do but they're meant to do it in such a way that doesn't feel obvious. His positive traits come out more organically from the story and make more sense. I think because I’m not really shipping the main couple I’ve noticed this more than I would’ve if I’d been more invested in them (the leads).
