I think ransomware was meant to symbolise NDS. I know I'm biased, but back when I thought HJP was the second lead (and meant to be) I couldn't understand what on earth the writer was doing. There just seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it. When I started to see HJP as the male lead, everything fell into place. NDS was the ransomware in Jidal's love story. That's why so many of us hate him. We weren't meant to hate him. But we were meant to dislike his presence. So when he overstayed his welcome that dislike turned to hate. Maybe that's just me trying to justify my 'delusions', but for the majority of the show's running I was convinced HJP was the second lead. I changed my mind because when I seriously considered that it was a bait and switch, it all made total sense.
Just a little analogy about Start Up...I think I would describe HJP and NDS like this. HJP is your financial advisor…
Whenever I read analyses like this it makes me think that's exactly what PHR was going for. Until she wasn't. It just sounds like her. PHR isn't dumb, and a Jidal endgame would've solidified themes and metaphors that would've been very much in keeping with her style. I don't have the highest opinion of her. She's willing to create unlikely situations by heavily relying on a highly implausible premise. But, within that she usually produces a solid love story with more depth than a typical YA.
Vague spoiler ahead. The first six episodes are good, but the plot dies a slow and painful death. It's eventually…
Was it popular? I know HJP was popular, but my impression was that the drama itself didn't do as well as predicted, and that it received quite strong criticism (not just here on MDL).
Should we make some sort of peace treaty? We'll post all the negative comments we want to (not that we're even that negative, I mean I am, but most people here aren't), they can post all the positive comments they want to, and we won't interact with each other whatsoever. That might make our goal a little harder, but it's good to have a challenge. Of course by no interaction I also mean no indirect comments such as "ignore these haters", or "screw all these Dodal fans" (sorry I tried to think of something more creative, but I couldn't).

Difficult to say. On good days I'm over the disappointment, and I'm glad I watched it just because it introduced me to HJP and KSH. On bad days I regret watching it and I wish I could wipe it from my memory. I'm guessing you would find it less disappointing because you've been forewarned. Episodes 1-6 are safe to watch. Episode 7 is the beginning of the end. Episodes 8-10 are mostly good in my opinion. Episodes 11-12 have some gems, but are also frustrating. Episodes 13-16 are the worst, although they also have some gems. I hope that's helpful. I'm too torn myself to say whether or not you should keep watching.
I don't know word crybaby would cause a serious harm to you in any way,I just got fed-up with your comments and…
Don't mind all my negative comments. I've been spamming this comment section with every thought that comes into my head so as to reach 30,000. For those of us who were disappointed, this community offers some consolation. Many of us signed up for a different drama to the one we got. We feel it set up one story, but delivered on another that not only wasn't as good, but spat in the face of the original. I can see why it would be frustrating to see all the negativity, but if I were you I'd just be thankful you're not one of the people who were disappointed.
Vague spoiler ahead. The first six episodes are good, but the plot dies a slow and painful death. It's eventually replaced by a much weaker plot. If you get SLS, or as we like to call it in this case: male lead gone wrong syndrome, you should probably stop watching. Or keep watching but brace yourself. It's not just that he doesn't get the girl, he generally gets a very disappointing ending.
Haha ...I am enjoying your comments..cry baby....Cry like this for few more days you will make it to 30k.What…
The irony is he/she (I'm going to go with he, because he reminds me of OneAjhussi) actually made me feel better. I mean he's not one for subtlety is he? Cry baby? Really? And the fact that he tripled down on it. I read his comment with a grin on my face.
So sad to hear about that actress. I've read some suggestion that it was suicide, but I don't know if it's confirmed yet. In any case I can't believe how many suicides there are in the Kdrama and Kpop industries. It feels like a monthly occurrence. The last one I remember reading about was Jeon Mi-Seon. I guess it's quite common in Korea in general.

Thanks I'm enjoying yours too. Unfortunately, the other troll here blocked me just as I was growing fond of him. This comment section hasn't been the same since. You're more than making up for it though.
I'm having a bad day today. Occasionally it hits me again and I regret ever watching this drama. Someone said it felt like the villain got the girl, but it's actually worse than that. The villain got the girl, and it was written as though it was a happy ending. I could tolerate the antagonist ending up with the female lead if it was meant to be an unhappy ending, and if the drama had earned the right to deliver such an ending. But this drama was a fluffy, semi-serious rom-com that should've had a happy ending but instead force fed us a fake one.
