This drama is quite polarizing. I thought it was insipid, and here’s why- The fantasy element was lacking any philosophical theme or coherent world view. There was the replay of past lives, but the random magical events appeared to lack any rule-based structure. The ML was a cynical, cruel, foolish loan shark. Annoying clothes. I won’t complain about Song Kang’s acting because he was given nothing to work with. He should fire his manager/advisors/team or whoever got him involved in this mess. The humorous parts were either poorly acted of poorly written-just not very funny. Heo Jung Do did show some good comic timing. The villains were poorly scripted comic book bad guys. This drama employed an annoying plot device in which we (the viewers) know more than the protagonists about what the bad guys are up to. So, we have to watch the leads flail around and look stupid, while we wait patiently (or not) for them to figure it out. I know that when I love a drama I can overlook the flaws even when I notice them. If you loved this drama then carry on and don’t worry about what others think.
THEORY: Ji secretary was the younger brother of that dead girl. He got obsessed about CCY and now killing everyone…
Good theory. I'm having trouble accounting for the cruelty to cats facet. It seems to suggest that the perpetrator is evil. Maybe there is more than one guy in a hoodie.
MDL reviews are not necessarily reliable and it also boils down to personal taste. For eg i find Alchemy of Souls…
I agree that reviews may not always be reliable because we all have different tastes. After reading a review I will frequently see how that person rated other dramas that I have seen to see if I agree to get an idea as to how our tastes are similar or different. Try that with the reviews for this drama and you will see that many of them are the only review for a recently established profile and they have the same chirpy/gushing/immature tone with zero analysis.
Warning: very long post above, but please do discuss with me!Edit: Looking back, I have quite a few run-on sentences…
I read and your long comment and really enjoyed it. I think grandfather left his fortune on record to his sons and daughter knowing they would just back stab and argue and end up losing it in the end. He left the slush fund to his youngest grandson because that $ was huge and best of all, out of reach of the other family members
I know. My favorite. So many people missed out on being mesmerized by this drama. When I read their rationales I can almost see their point at times ... but not enough that it diminishes my love for this drama.
Lots of negative comments about the FL. Remember she has just had her wedding crash and burn after a weird roller coaster reunion with her ex. She is not the Superwoman we would like her to be--she's doing ok.
How about some predictions–crazy ones allowed. Here’s one. In Joo sets fire to the Ghost Orchid Tree, which is actually a magical entity holding together the death cult comprised of the evil puppet masters and henchmen. When the tree burns away they are all disenchanted as if waking from a dream, except for Sang A, who screams and melts away like the wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz.
I get a feeling that In Hye actually wants to bring down PJS and WSA too. She seems to know... things and might…
Her motive is love--For Hyo Rin, I first thought that when they were watching the campaign show--the way that she was laughing with Hyo Rin was completely joyful. Then they had the 'us against the world' discussion and I thought that In Hye was doing it all for Hyo Rin and she does know that she has to protect Hyo Rin from her evil parents.
