Great actors, Terrible script!
I had such high hopes for this drama, I love the ML ever since I saw him in his other drama (The Inextricable Destiny) and I love the FL from The Romance of Hua Rong.They literally took a badass, assassin FL and turned her into the most useless FL? And that whole plot with the Emperor was odd... I swear I have never seen a Cdrama Historical with such a useless Emperor? LOL it was funny but weird.
The ending was happy and okay but I literally fast forwarded through the last 10 episodes because it felt so boring.
Would I watch this again? Hell no! Do I blame the script? HELL YES! They took two phenomenal actors and gave them a horrible script to follow!
It wasn't so bad to the point where I dropped it, I honestly only finished it to see if it was worth it and it is really not worth time at all!

Amazing Actors, Questionable Scriptwriters
Amazing actors! I love almost every drama with Ireine Song, her acting is amazing! The ML was also very good and very convincing when his character became a "fool".I loved the FL's whole family, I hate the way things ended up and honestly the ending of the FL should not have been that way. So much time wasted just because the scriptwriters couldn't think of a proper happy ending or sad ending. I am a firm believer in either having a happy ending or make it a sad/tragic ending. Why have such a bittersweet ending? My heart hurts thinking of both the ML and FL's sacrifices but then the ending is supposed to be happy and yet I do not feel happy? Bad scriptwriting!
Would I recommend watching this? Yes because the FL is truly doted upon by her family and fiance (ML) in the beginning, it was so sweet my heart felt warm. Everything went to shit after but still, it was worth watching and finishing. I would not watch again though!

A MUST WATCH K-DRAMA!!!
Never... EVER would I have thought that I would be watching a korean soap opera style drama. Whenever I watched 16 episode kdramas, I felt it was too long.... and yet I finished this 50 episodes, more than 1 hour per episode, drama in under a week!! It was SOOOO AMAZING, it had me excited to come home the next day from work so I could continue it.... I loved the parents, the siblings, the grandkids, everyone. I cried almost 5 times watching this. It had such heartwarming moments paired with realistic struggles of family, marriage and love. I wish I could wipe my memory of this drama and watch it all over again.My ABSOLUTE favorite couple is our maknae, Song Da Hee and Yoon Jae Suk. I just love them both together so so soooooo freaking much. More than the main first couple but truthfully all the couples had their strengths and weakness. Ahhh such an amazing drama!!!!!!! I just found out there's a chinese drama remake of this.... I am off to go watch it, I will be happy if it is even HALF as good as this one!!

A MUST WATCH!! HILARIOUS, SLICE OF LIFE
Listen, I finished this about two or three months ago.... I have been STRUGGLING to find something as good as this one. It is so rare to find a drama that just makes you feel so... content? so comfortable? it is hard to even describe. The vibes are just IMMACULATE in this drama, I love the hilarious scenes, the awkwardness, the budding romance.Could some plot points have been done better? Of course.
But the acting and actors efforts are clear and I truly love this drama!!!!
Great drama, especially for those who are in university/graduated and know what it feels like to be interns!

Literally the most AMAZING Chinese Historical Martial Arts Drama ever made!!!
THE BEST CHINESE BL HISTORICAL DRAMA EVER!!! I wish I could give it 100000000 stars!!First off, YOU MUST WATCH THE MINI EPILOGUE EPISODE (find it on Reddit!). I watched this drama and finished it in two days on Netflix and CRIED thinking that was the ending but then i found that mini episode 37 and the whole world felt peaceful once again aha
Second off, HOW IN THE I STILL CANT FKN BELIEVE IT did this drama past China's strict censorship? I'll tell you how... with genius scriptwriters, directors and talented actors, that's how! Everything about this drama was perfect, especially the fight scenes. I was mesmerized by each fight scene, it was like nothing I've ever seen before! I wish there were more dramas with such amazing cinematography and martial arts fight scenes!
I loved both the MC and ML, they are so talented and this drama was just everything I could ever imagine! Makes me want to read the novel now. I wish there was a season 2, but I don't think they'd be able to escape the strict censorship nowadays aha
This drama has everything: Romance, angst, revenge, deep bonds between characters, and every other good thing you could possibly imagine.
Obviously, even though the novel is a BL, this drama adaptation could not be BL because of China's censorship rules. BUT they did an excellent job in depicting the love between the MC and ML. Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing could communicate their love through silent actions such as their eye contact, the concern they show for each other, the sacrifices they are willing to make in order to save the other person, it was beautiful. I wish I could find more dramas like this one, please let me know if you know of any dramas similar to WOH!
