This is what i have been saying! If Ray never does anything actively to show he loves Mew. Its just that Mew is the only one who has ever stayed with him consistently so he feels like he should love Mew. Anytime Sand is around its like Ray forgets Mew even exists. I think he would have been fine if Mew had gotten with anyone but Top who he knew was a lying, drug taking, man whore.
