Captain is the epitome of being a Main Character. Even when the focus is not supposed to be on him, he will steal the focus. In his mind he does care for his friends and he considers himself a good friend however no ones needs come before his.
Captain will lie, steal, connive and use sex to get what he wants and is shameless about it. He is purely meeting his needs by whatever means necessary and as the MC that is his right. There is never a question of him going without something because it might hurt or inconvenience someone else.
Captain's does not truly love anyone but himself. He does not love Keen but he enjoys the games they play and at this moment he doesn't want Puen who was also his rival on the Rugby team to touch what is his. But he is also not extremely bothered if Keen had to move away when he got fired because as we have seen Captain has no issues having his sexual needs fulfilled elsewhere.
Being kicked off the rugby team, expelled from school, having his sex tape released, fighting with Zouey, these are all minor inconveniences to him. As the main character he knows that his will be fine because there is no other option.
All of this allows Captain to happily skip through life whilst those around him are falling apart.
