idk what's everyone complaining about but Kento fits Oreki role perfectly, he's even the dream casting for it - coming from an avid Hyouka manga/novel reader for years. I am sure he will show us a splendid, top notch performance just like he did in Orange and One Week Friend. He improved a lot over the past few years. Just let him live like like how do ya'll want him to improve his acting skills and get better at it if he refuses the roles and projects he's been offered? That's a contradiction for itself and like telling a model to refuse works or a singer to stop singing bc they are becoming ' too mainstream' after lending a few gigs. It's clearly just an exaggeration and if you look at other actors/actresses Kento isn't even near mainstream. So let's watch it first and then complain.
no offence despite this being a mess, Apo deserving better, I enjoyed this a lot. It was a fun right till they made the lesbian (Pan) fall for Fah. By all means I know the human sexual spectrum is complicated, complex and fluid, can change and this doesn't delete her previous history of only dating and loving women. So she isn't hetero or how some ppl like to call it 'turn straight suddenly' but bi which is cool too. And we definitely need representations like this too. Just to show the complexity of the sprectrum. Not everything is just Balck & White. There is also a middle. But like Lesbians are rare fish in the sea and we never get them properly without one falling for a guy. I only remember two one in Hormones the Series and the other one in Underwear the Series. Couldn't they have added a girlfriend for her and both build a cute relationship together? Is representation like that too much to ask for? I am not saying that Fah x Pan aren't cute, they are, but I couldn't help but feel disappointed especially as this plays with the idea of what her ex new guy 'boys are better than lesbians' said.
It was a fun ride. Was it cliché? Heck yeah. Was the plot innovative? Heck nah. Could the plot be better? Heck yes. But sometimes this is exactly the sweetness we need and are looking for. In a plot where a simple young woman starts living with three handsome men where nothing deep happens and follows the steps of a young love blossoming in the summer air. I really enjoyed despite some unnecessary parts. The main girl is decent (at least she has a goal and never bows down) and cute and three male leads do have some outstanding and stupid moments here and there, were overall okay too. Acting wise, don't expect anything ground-breaking, you won't find it here, not that it was needed for this simple sunmer fluff anyway, but it was fine. I did like Kento's and Shohei's a lot.
Unlike a lot of comments I actually really enjoyed this one a lot. The new Naoki musters a few expressions, doesn't treat her like complete shit and he even managed to make my heart race and laugh a little when he carried her and threw Kotoko's line back at Kinchan. He's definitely interesting despite being a cardboard copy of his previous versions. As for Kotoko, she is great, not that I disliked the other one's, but she managed to get into the TOP 100 (I don't remember if the other's did sry), is good at sport and speaks up for herself. Sure she still isn't smart, doesn't kick his ass and it's not a big change, but it's refreshing. She isn't completely useless and she doesn't take all the shit that gets thrown at her, no she stands up for herself and has some type of pride. It's a new setting. And the best part is Kotoko screams less, is more bearable and less embaressing and overreacts less - probably due it only being a movie, but it's a nice change and felt good. I enjoyed it. As for the story, what to say? It's the same plot we've all known with some changes (sport festival (?)), but progresses faster and therefor feels less stretched with unnecessary back and forth drama and more fluid. I also like the idea of F Class actually being good at something even if it's just sport, it was a nice change and hived them above the one's that usually look down on them.
