You’re absolutely right. I remember hearing some comments about when Sun was looking for Changge how it was dragging, and I remember thinking to myself like come on, there was so much happening from ep 1-26, these characters need a break! They need time to reflect on their actions, feelings and thoughts. At least the director didn’t drag that separation out long. In general and I, the main leads were separated from each other for 20 episodes!!! It was probably the most ridiculous, long, dragged out separation in c drama land ever!!!!!!!!
