Changge: *passes out on sun's shoulder*Sun's brain: wait a minute. wha- why is she leaning on my should- i need…
This scene was so cute, but yet so funny at the same time!
I remember smiling when hearing Sun said those things in his head, and than was like shit wtf is wrong with Changge, and than was like oh shit Changge started her period! And than couldn’t stop laughing. And than I was awwwwing by how mature Sun reaction was when he found out she started her period. So many different Emotions in like a 3 min span.
You are not the only one, but I have to say, I'm really surprised, because I thought it was great. Actually, I…
“I think the "bromance" aspect of CG/AS comes from CG's character development. We are so used to seeing more "feminine" FL with ML that we start to expect this kind of dynamic in all dramas. But to be honest, I think it's refreshing and necessary to have these kinds of love stories where the girl isn't more of the same. Not all women are girly girls, so these other women need a bit of representation too! And of course, given their character, the love story can't be the same. It will be different.”
This comment right here, is exactly how I feel and wanted to expressed but couldn’t find all the right words to explain it. So I’ve been thinking about it all day long and than you came around and spills the words out of my mouth.
It’s been subtle pointed out to us audience that Changge did things in that time period that a female shouldn’t have been doing. Such as hunting, riding horses, learning martial arts, and learning war tactics. From this, viewers can gather that she’s very different from your normal female in the tang period and if anything she’s more like a tomboy. Hence she dresses like a tomboy like 80% of the drama. I know some people pointed out that it was for her to get around easier, but I also get this sense that she actually likes to dress like that. She has never given me a vibe where she was very “feminine”. Sure at times her feminine side does show, such as being shy when Sun asked if she put perfume on, when Sun wanted to feed her medicine, or writing sun’s name over and over on a piece of paper. Other than some of those instances, most of the time she’s an independent, confident, self reliant, who can also be pretty hard headed at time type of gal. I think Changge not overly showing her affections, and not being all lovie dovey, touchy feely, fits who her character is. Unfortunately I think this type of characteristics leads to some seeing it as she has no chemistry with the ML, or she doesn’t love Sun as much as he loves her, it’s a “bromance” relationship, or that she seems stiff and awkward when Sun is trying to show her affections, when really, this is who Changge is.
I think she shows her love to Sun more by her actions and words, rather than by affections and physical touch. And this is something that most of us are not used too because we’re so used to seeing it the other way. I personally feel like this way of showing love is so refreshing, unique, sincere and makes it more believable. I’ve enjoy this type of love, especially since I’m actually all about romance, lovey dovey, touchy feely type of gal when I’m watching c dramas. But idk, TLB got me, Idk why they did, but I’ve fallen completely in love with GeSun.
It was very very difficult for Mrs Gongun. She had to choose between following her husband, or remain behind to…
@krystal04 meant to tag you in her reply comment but she accidentally tag me instead. Don’t want you to miss it :-)
From kystal04 to WK1 Wow, I absolutely loved the way that you worded everything. Ep 14 and 15 although were some of the saddest episodes in the drama, were some of my favorites along with ep 18, 25, 32, and 48. The acting within these episodes were so raw and well done that it amazes me every time I rewatch it. Not only that but the execution of the scenes like when Chang Ge walked out of the gates to meet Sun, when Sun came and saved Chang Ge from Lady Jin, when everyone was fighting while Mujin and Mimi had their goodbye moment.
I still remember how much I had cried watching the Gongsun Heng and his wife's deaths. The scream that the dubber had let out as well as the painful tortured expressions that Raba had portrayed really ripped my heart to pieces.
I loved how you described the snow walking scene, yes I absolutely agree that it was epic, but it also has this melancholic feel to it. Like you said lol, seeing this 15 year old girl brave through the snow and carrying so much grief and sufferings on her shoulders to meet thousands of armed soldiers wanting to kill her. The snow and the music were so well paired with the scene and I absolutely love it.
As for Mrs. Gongsun, similar to you, I believe that ultimately she had agreed to follow her husband's path because she knew that their daughter would be safe in the hands of the people left behind. While on the other hand, her husband is this selfless ever so sacrificing General who had chose to walk alone and kill himself for the safety of his people. She understanding that, had chose to be the one to accompany him in the end knowing well that their daughter is in good hands. It was a beautiful scene, a heart wrenching episode, and an admirable sacrifice.
Slightly confused. What do you mean it starts from their wedding?
Hiiiii! So happy you came to chat with us :-). The way you feel about Ashile sun is the way many of us feel too. You're story is similar to mine. I can go on forever and ever just talking about how amazing Sun is. And you're absolutely right, he's one of a kind. I've been watching c dramas for a VERY long time and this type of character I've rarely seen. He's a gem.
I kinda like this slower time break. It gives me time to catch up and keep up. Before, when TLB was airing, even if you miss a couple of hours going on MDL, you're comments is gone, you can't find your replies anymore, the comment you want to reply to is no where to be found. Those were the insane days and you're just like okay I give up! LOL
E49. The tree-trunk-under-the-moonlight scene. I just re-watched it for the umpteen times. Noticed some interesting…
*I'm crying*
Reading your comment reminds me of why I love TLB so much and why I'm so obsessed with GeSun. I think I already mentioned this before but their relationship and love for one another feel so real to me, it comes natural, it's realistic, the trust, and bond they have with each other is so unique and you just don't see this often in c dramas, which makes them even more attractive. No third wheel, no misunderstanding that doesn't get resolved right away, no "lying" or hurting each other to protect each other. It's just very straightforward.
I just realized something, Sun and Changge never really declared their love to each other right?!! They didn't outright was like "hey I love you." Or "I want you" But their subtle ways and actions, were enough. they didn't need to say more about it. They both knew how much one meant to another, and were there for each other no matter what. That kind of a relationship is so pure, heartfelt, and so sincere.
I agree with you, many screenwriters should really use GeSun relationship as a model. We're so sick of that same ole troupe they used in almost every c dramas. It's unhealthy and gets so annoying!

I'm glad you pointed these out cuz that's what I noticed too :-)
