Thanks for reading and enjoying! :)

I'm the same way when it comes down to male leads. Majority of the time (unless the male lead is an asshole) I always root for the male lead. But with Heroine Disqualified, I couldn't do it even with Kento being the lead. It's very rare that I get SLS, but this was the worst case I had of it watching any drama before. Kosuke deserved better!

Wow, thanks for bringing back my SLS from You're Beautiful. I thought I burried that deep down, but you just brought…
Lol! I'm sorry for bringing back that pain! For me, writing this only brought back painful memories of yelling at my laptop whenever Shin Woo would do something sweet for Go Mi Nam and not say anything. Eventually, I just gave up on him. (I was rooting for Tae Kyung anyway.)

I usually can turn my brain off while watching lakorns, ignoring all of the nonsensical actions of the characters,…
Omg. This is so long, but I just want to add one more thing.

I do think that Nithan was trash and so Tien had every right to think he was trash too. But Porn was also trash and she protected her like she was some innocent child. I also didn't like Tien's insistent need to be a 'good person' and force her morals on others. It's nothing wrong with being good, but when you start to force your morals on others, it's annoying. For example, when she went to the funeral without telling people she wasn't Porn, she kept trying to go there though the family did not want her there. And really the reason she was so insistent was because she wanted to help get rid of her sister's karma. That's very selfish in my opinion. That was a time for his family to mourn but instead they had to be upset by seeing the person they believed caused their father to have an heart attack. But of course none of that matters, because Good Person Tien needs to help her sister's karma. She also does this with the hospital situation as well. She wants to visit Root's mom though she knows with Root's mothers poor health the sight of seeing her might make her have an heart attack. But nope, I still need to go see her anyway. Lol! Tien was so annoying. Though I was not a fan of Root because he often came off as super entitled and whiny to me, I could understand his dislike of her in the beginning. Tien often disregards the wants of others in order to impose her good will.

Title Fai Luang Spoiler
I usually can turn my brain off while watching lakorns, ignoring all of the nonsensical actions of the characters, but there were just too many things in this lakorn that didn’t work for me.

Tien pissed me off. She was overly self-righteous, and her moral attitude annoyed me. She constantly harshly criticized others for wrong doings but not her own sister. She would crucify Nithan for being a horrible person, but in the same breath tell others not to berate Porn for her wrong doings. Porn did the same thing as Nithan. Nithan didn’t love Porn and was using her for her money. Porn did not love Root’s father and used him for his money. And what was worse, was that it was clear that Porn did not really feel any remorse for her actions at all. She gladly kept his house and money, and even took the properties from the will. Porn was money hungry and stupid, but Tien cuddled her older sister every step of the way while berating Nithan and Root. And to top it off, Tien says that she believes in karma and it should come for Porn but that she wouldn’t allow it. Porn deserved everything that happened to her and I could care less about her becoming mentally ill. But the person who did not deserve horrible things was Tien, which leads me to one of my biggest gripes about this lakorn.

Root spent way too much time bullying Tien for no real reason when he should have been bullying Porn and Nithan.

I’ll make a comparison to Sawan Biang because these two lakorns have a lot of similarities including the fact that both male leads take their revenge out on the younger sister of the person they hate. In Sawan Biang, Kawee bullies Narin instead of Lee because he’s unable to. Lee is now his father’s wife, so she’s practically untouchable. So, he bullies Narin instead because he knows it will hurt Lee and it’ll also make Lee jealous of Narin because he spends more time with Narin than her. So, though he should be bullying Lee, he has reasons why he bullies Narin instead. In this lakorn, Root doesn’t really have a reason for bullying Tien more than he does Porn. You can say it’s because Root likes Tien and doesn’t realize it. That’s true, but that’s an inner motivation that Root doesn’t become aware of until later. He should have an outer motivation that is clear, and he doesn’t. Kawee doesn’t realize that he loves Narin either, but he doesn’t start unknowingly falling for her until halfway through his bullying.

What also bothered me about this lakorn was the unbelievable romance between Root and Tien. Root spends so much time bullying Tien that it honestly makes no sense why she would like him. Other than the forceful kiss he gave her, she had rarely thought about him in a romantic way at all. In Sawan Biang, the bullying is twenty times worse, it’s flat out abuse, but the second half shows why Narin is able to forgive Kawee and wants to be with him. First, they spend a lot of time together with just each other with Kawee constantly doing good things to make amends. Second, Narin is pregnant with Kawee’s baby and this connection between them makes something develop. Despite the things that Kawee did, it makes sense why Narin is able to forgive him. (At least by lakorn standards) In this, the story attempts to do the same. Root tries to make amends by doing kind things, but the problem is that Root is not able to spend much time with Tien because she is in the hospital after a miscarriage. Most of the good deeds he is doing is only being told to Tien by other people. She’s not seeing it or receiving it first hand herself. And since Tien has a miscarriage, there is nothing that truly ties them together anymore, especially considering the fact that there was never really any indication that she liked him before everything had happened. In my opinion, there was nothing that showed why she would choose to be with him considering how much he bullied her and how little time he spent making it up directly to her.

I also had many problems with the story and characters in general. Was I supposed to feel sad for what happened to Root’s father? If he hadn’t been cheating in the first place, then it wouldn’t have happened to him. The family spent more time blaming Porn, then blaming the father who had been dumb enough to give all of those properties in his will to Porn in the first place. Their anger was misplaced and skewed. I also didn’t like the revenge aspect of this story. I really hate when the lesson of a revenge story is that the character should not take revenge. Tien was so upset that Root was taking revenge on Porn, but Porn deserved everything that happened to her. Porn only realized she had been wrong after Nithan betrayed her and then she knew exactly what Root’s father had felt like when she betrayed him.

I enjoyed this lakorn, especially the first half which I thought was more stronger than the second. It was refreshing to see Naboon and Wan on the same team with no unnecessary misunderstandings between them... until the second half where there are a bunch of unnecessary misunderstandings between them. Lol It was fun to watch some of their jealousy scenes, but at one point it started to get ridiculous to me.

I liked Wan a lot after she stopped being annoying in the first few episodes. She was strong when she needed to be, not all the time, but definitely when it counted. Naboon was a refreshing male lead. And I found it hilarious that somehow they found a way to take Weir's shirt off again on episode 15. It must be a requirement in every contract he signs when taking a role.

Weir and Thisa have good chemistry together. It's especially displayed in the last episode, but also the problem with the last episode is that an unnecessary plot line is introduced for no other reason than to cause problems.

I was so happy when Paramet died. Of course, because this is a lakorn they tried to pull the forgiveness and sympathy card but I was happy to see him go. At this point, I don't care how much Paramet cared for Manpu. He probably would have sold him off too if he could get money from it. Taksina was annoying and the actress who portrayed her was way too cartoonish.

Overall, it's a fun lakorn to watch though the second half is not nearly as good as the first.

This is a weird drama. The idea is good, but the execution is extremely poor at times. There are things that work, but many things that don’t work. For example, the tone is weird. It’s too monotone and serious at times, when the drama might have benefitted from it being more light-hearted.

Too much time is wasted on unnecessary things. Pointless scenes that don’t further the plot, scenes that are dragged out. Too many side characters. Episode 24 hands down has to be one of the most unnecessary episodes I’ve ever watched. And don’t get me started on the fact that storylines are set up, only for nothing to come from it in the end.

But the worst thing about this drama was that most of the time it was hard for me to believe in Pi Pi and Helan’s love for each other. I believed more in the relationship of the first Pi Pi when they were children than when they were older. Pi Pi spent far too much time being in love with her boyfriend and fearing Helan. And it doesn’t help that it’s hard to get emotion from either of these characters. I’m not sure if it’s the actors’ portrayal or if the characters are just bland. But Victoria and Johnny barely have chemistry together.

I probably would have enjoyed this drama more, choppy writing and all, if the romance was good, but it was too dull and boring, with very rare moments of the leads displaying chemistry.

Title Heart Signal Season 2 Spoiler
I think the way this season was edited together was absolute bullshit honestly. First off the timeline was an…
I agree with you on the Hyun Woo and Young Ju relationship. I was never sold on the idea at all. They were way too awkward around each other, when it was clear that Hyun Woo was more comfortable around Hyun Ju. And of course people will have problems in their relationships, but some of these misunderstandings were avoidable and annoying to watch.

I also thought a big reason the relationship didn't work between Hyun Woo and Young Ju was her insecurities. It's amazing to me that obviously at one point Hyun Woo completely cut Hyun Ju off, and Hyun Ju said it herself, but for some reason Young Ju still thought there was something going on. After they had that last trip, I knew Hyun Woo was over it and tired of constantly reassuring her. I'm not saying Young Ju was the only person at fault, but she was very annoying.

I also agree with you on not understanding why people are bashing Hyun Ju. She tried to give Do Gyun a chance. If that's the case, then they should also bash Do Gyun for getting Jang Mi's hopes up high too.

Thanks. I was curious about this version. I just read your mini review and comparison of this and it made me more…
No, I don't think anyone has ever subbed this. I was able to watch it without subs because I can pick up on a few words and I saw the other versions so that helped with context. It sucks because I would love to see this subbed.

Title Sa Kao Duen Spoiler
This is a passable lakorn. It suffers from the same problems that a lakorn usually suffers from, pacing issues, nonsensical characters, annoying family drama. I enjoyed it in the beginning, but I started to get really annoyed by the leads.

I haven’t seen such an indecisive male lead since the Khun Chai series with Grate’s character. It was really frustrating watching as he refused to correct Tai every time she assumed something. There were so many opportunities for him to set everything straight and say that he didn’t like Lek as much as he thought he did, but he would never say anything. And the way the situation blows up, I’m surprised that Tai was able to forgive him. I really hated that when Lek gave him an opportunity to back out and tell the truth, that he still lied to her and said that he loved her and wanted to marry her. I get that he didn’t want to hurt Tai, but to use someone to the extent that he was using Lek was ridiculous.

Tai was very annoying too. She constantly assumed things and she was practically apart of the relationship with Lek and Klot. Lesson learned, never facilitate a relationship so much to the point that the actual couple needs you to be apart of it for it to work. Really, the only reason Lek started to fall for Klot was because Tai was constantly assuming things on her own and then telling her.

As for the relationship between Tai and Klot, I liked it well enough, but it still was somewhat hard for me to believe. It took Tai forever to realize her feelings for Klot, and then add on all of the bad things that happened because of him, it made it a little hard for me to believe that she would want to be with him. I wished they would have added more scenes giving an indication that she was slowly falling for him.

Overall, I think the New and Bow did a good job and that the lakorn is enjoyable if you can get pass all of the annoying decisions that the characters make.

WHERE DID YOU WATCH IT GIRL??? I've been obsesses with willy ever since "Manee Yard Fah" *melts* Like srsly he…
I watched it without subs, but since I've seen so many lakorns before I'm able to pick up on some words. I don't think this lakorn has ever been subbed before. But it would be easier to watch this version without subs, if you watch the remake first. They're not exactly the same. but it'll make it easier to pick up on what they're saying.

It is unfortunate that this hasn't been subbed though because it's way better than the remake and Willy is really good in here.

Review Something in the Rain Spoiler
For the ending, I wanted them not to end up together. I know that would be considered sad for some but the 'happy ending' we were given felt unearned. They had gone through so many problems and neither of them really got the chance to properly express their issues with each other to get past their problems. And personally, I thought Jin-ah was undeserving of Joon Hee.

I was hoping that she would see him again and Joon Hee would have moved on and she’ll monologue about how love isn’t enough, reflecting on her mistakes, and whether the relationship was worth it considering how much it ruined their relationship with their family and friends, and then she’ll think to herself that their relationship despite how short it was will be something she’ll always remember and hold dear to her. It’s not happy, but it would have been earned and made more sense than what we were given.

Title Neung Nai Suang Spoiler
This was very interesting to watch, if not only to see the differences between this version and the one with Ken and Janie. First, this is not historical like the two remakes. And the 2015 version follows the 2005 version. But this version is very different, yet similar. They even have the main leads do a play in this one that I thought was hilarious.

What I enjoyed about this version was the leads. I don’t think they were better than Janie and Ken, but that’s more so because of the writing. The 2005 version cleans up the narrative a bit and shortens the story. It gets rid of unnecessary characters, but on the other hand, I think it also tones down some of the characters and I don’t think that was a good thing. For example, I loved both Pu and Paen in this version, especially Pu. He doesn’t have a romance in this, but he is hilarious, and I could really see the sibling relationship between the three of them. I also found the little sister of Khun Chai to be way more interesting in this version as we get to see her relationship with her father. I also liked that this wasn’t historical, though I can see why when they remade it they decided to do that. It gives the 2005 version a flare and a Pride and Prejudice feel to it.

Pete and Khawn are really good. They gave way better performances than James and Yaya, but I don’t think they were better than Ken and Janie. With the 2005 version, the story plays up on them trying to best each other and the bickering. They have the whole ball dance where Boom leaves Neung embarrassing him and this stirs up a problem between them stemming from the past. Whereas, in this version, that scene never happens. Boom hates Neung from how he treated her in the past and Neung just picks on her as soon as he comes back from abroad. So, I think the 2005 version played up on their hate for each other more therefore giving them more time together. This version has so many side characters that sometimes it takes away from the leads.

If I had to rank them it would be the 2005 version first, then the original second, and then the 2015 version third. Honestly, I think that when they did the 2015 version, they should have made it follow this one more. One of the reasons why the 2015 version pales in comparison to the 2005 version is because they are too similar. The 2005 versions' narrative is very dependent on the leads interactions with each other and James and Yaya did not have the same range as Ken and Janie to carry it. But if they had followed the original more, then I think they would have been better. A present day setting, amping up the secondary characters' story, and making James play Neung like a playboy like Pete did. Also, if they would make the play a bigger part of the story that would have been interesting. I felt this version did not spend as much time on the play and they could have gotten more out of that.
