I find it interesting that every time a drama depicts cheating people say it's trying to normalize it or say it's okay. No, the writers are not trying to tell you to go out and cheat on your significant other or if they cheat on you to forgive them. The writer is just telling a story and explaining the complexities of cheating. It's not always about physical attraction and there are other things that can lead to cheating. It's just a story don't take it to heart so much.
A wonderful drama that explores the complexities of friendship, marriage, romantic relationships, infidelity,…
Thank you! I could talk about this drama all day! I thought it was interesting that Tang Jing always said she felt He Han did not love her enough and in the beginning, I truly did not understand what she meant. Especially since every time she thought He Han was backstabbing her at work, he was usually helping her. But I think you make a great point in why she was so skeptical because sometimes I think He Han was testing her at times, be it in their mentor-student relationship or their romantic one.
But when He Han told Zi Jun he loved her, I knew it was real. He was ready to marry her then and truly would have no regrets. A part of me wanted them to be together, but the other part knew it was wrong.
I’d like to think He Han and Zi Jun eventually meet each other again and enough time has passed for them to be able to let go of the past and be with each other. And hopefully, Tang Jing has found the man that is truly for her because she is a great person. One of my favorite characters.
A wonderful drama that explores the complexities of friendship, marriage, romantic relationships, infidelity, and morality. I especially enjoyed the way they explored infidelity and loyalty. When you’re picking the love of your life, you would never imagine the possibility of meeting another who could possibly be it. Which brings the questions: if you care for someone but there is someone else you love more, should you be loyal to the one that is first there or should you follow your heart and be with the one you truly love? Do you stay with someone because of loyalty and lose happiness because of it? Or do you force yourself or someone else to stay? Or do you move on and possibly find a better life you’ve never dreamed of or a worse one?
He Han and Zi Jun never imagined themselves falling in love with each other because of their mutual friend, her best friend and his girlfriend, and also because they hate each other. The drama never tries to make you think that He Han and Zi Jun are right in their feelings, but they also never try to make you feel that they are wrong either.
Tang Jing and He Han have the most complex relationship out of all. She does not trust him and she also feels that their relationship should be more, constantly telling He Han that he does not love her enough. Though we see He Han propose to her, buy a house for them to move in together, quit his job so they won’t lose their personal relationship, and more. But even with all of this, she still has a hard time trusting him. It seems like she’s overthinking their relationship and majority of the time she is. She constantly questions everything that He Han does, wondering if he’s the ruthless business man or her lover.
If Tang Jing would have accepted his proposal the first time he did it, I think they would have had a satisfying relationship but not a happy one. They could not trust each other because even when they weren’t in the same office they were still rivals and both of them did not want to compromise who they were.
All of these reasons, I believe led to their downfall. And of course, that in being a great friend without realizing it she pushed He Han and Zi Jun together. Tang Jing always questions He Han’s motives but Zi Jun doesn’t. He Han can talk freely to Zi Jun without worrying about her overanalyzing the meaning of his words, just trusting them. He Han can take care of Zi Jun, but Tang Jang won’t allow him. He Han and Zi Jun, in their work roles, trusted each other but Tang Jing couldn’t trust him.
I also appreciate that the drama did not rely on a physical relationship between Zi Jun and He Han. I felt that their trust, respect, friendship, and care spoke so many volumes on what they meant to each other than stolen kisses.
I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Tang Jing never pushed He Han to help Zi Jun so much. Would Zi Jun have become the same strong woman with only Tang Jing’s help or did He Han’s words, strength, and comfort help her a lot? Would He Han have noticed Zi Jun as a woman? Would He Han have fallen in love with the woman she was before the divorce? Would Tang Jing and He Han have been able to be happy in marriage?
Were Zi Jun and He Han truly meant to be together, or were they unlucky in finding each other too late? Would they have met at all if it wasn’t for Tang Jing? Would He Han had loved Zi Jun if it wasn’t for Tang Jing?
I completed the drama, well, I like it to some extent, but I think it's a bit overrated. It's also far-fetched…
Shi Mok lacking feelings is important to this case he takes on because he approaches it differently than anyone else. Shi Mok lacks the desires and wants that other people have. He doesn’t want to get to the top or have hidden motives. He has a job as a prosecutor to uphold the law for the people and he does it correctly. He’s perfect for the case unlike others because he doesn’t have the fear of not wanting to lock up his fellow prosecutors or lose his job in the process.
With Eun Soo, she wants to do the case not necessarily to do it for justice but more so to prove her father’s innocence. Instead of the looking for the real truth, she’s looking for the truth she wants that helps her father. Dong Jae has done some corrupt things so he wants to protect his image and make sure he’s on the right side so he can continue to move to the top. Shi Mok doesn’t have any personal ties to the case like them. Even with some of the detectives in the police department, we see they are willing to compromise their values and do wrong in order to save themselves.
As for you asking if it would have been different if it was a normal guy, take Detective Gun for an example. He seems like a good officer with good values and morals compared to the rest of the police department, but his loyalty gets in the way of him doing his job properly. He would rather be loyal to the Police Chief than suspect him even when most of the evidence points his way that he has done corrupt things. He even goes as far as to help him. If it was Shi Mok, he wouldn’t care about loyalty to his Police Chief. If he suspected he was doing wrong, he would find a way to have him answer for his crimes.
I will agree that they do not give much backstory or character development on Yeo Jin. I never saw it as a flaw because I always felt that the drama always focused on the case at hand instead of needless things. We saw why this case was important to Yeo Jin because she is someone who cares about doing what is right and unlike her coworkers she refused to compromise. The writers did not give the same attention to her character that they gave to Shi Mok, choosing to solely focus on the case at hand, but I could see why you feel that she is lacking because of that.
As for Kim Jung Bon, if you were unemployed but an old friend appeared and offered you a job, would you not take it? Jung Bon is placed as a character to show what Shi Mok was like before a part of his brain was taking out. Shi Mok suspected everyone and he wanted to know why Jung Bon kept appearing, wondering if he could have been connected to the case or if it was a coincidence.
Ultimately, I think Chang Joon answers it best why he left Shi Mok to do the task. If you go back to the first episodes, the conversations with Chang Joon and Shi Mok seem much different knowing the ending. Chang Joon is often trying to figure out what Shi Mok’s true intentions are to see if he really is a good guy or just another prosecutor like Dong Jae. Once he knows of his surgery, he doesn’t tell anyone because he knows for certain Shi Mok can carry out the job.
With that being said, I can understand why you didn’t like it that much. It’s not a perfect drama and everyone has an opinion. On the other hand, I try not to pay much attention to ratings on MDL because if everyone says that a drama is really amazing, when I’m watching it I’m more focused on trying to figure out why everyone loved it instead of enjoying it. This has happened to me a few times.
As I thought, the last two episodes were unnecessary. Still, in the beginning the lakorn is very enjoyable. I like the female lead though I found her being so stubborn in the end was kind of annoying. I thought she was very strong and I liked that about her. Film does a good job though I wish we would have gotten a chance to see his relationship with his sister more. After a while I just felt like he wanted to be angry to be angry. If they would have shown some more back story with his family, the hate and pain will feel more real. Though this lakorn is far from perfect, I had a fun time watching it.
The worst thing is when a lakorn does not know when to end. They practically wrapped everything up but its still two more episodes left. Still a really enjoyable lakorn though. I hope the last two episodes won't be so draggy.
This lakorn was very entertaining and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I avoided it at first because everyone was…
I agree. This is definitely one of the better written lakorns that really showcases a more complicated relationship where love does not always prevail.
Though Pak has many characteristics of a typical crazy second female lead, those moments between her and Kim are very telling. I think to a certain extent Kim tried to be better to Pak when he realized how much pain he caused her and everyone around him, but in being better he still managed to hurt her because the truth was he would never love her and he was too selfish to let go of his love with Mook to care enough for Pak.
Those moments that they have together before her death are sad because though I think Kim was with her to take some of the guilt away and to placate her, there was something genuine about his actions towards her. Even if it was just a little. When Pak dies, I felt that his tears for her were genuine and he did realize he had fault in her death. What made that scene sad was when Pak is about to die, she thinks about her time with Kim in her last moments. In her last moments she thinks of Kim, a man who never truly loved her.
surprisingly was better than i predicted, not gem but just good.
This drama was interesting to me. I didn't love it but did not hate it either. How did you feel about the ending? Particularly the last scene at the restaurant with them dancing.
Chakrit and Anne were cute but really it's the only good thing about the lakorn. The story itself is pretty dumb. It annoyed me how much they were trying to force Khing and the brother together. At one point, Chakrit's character tells Prik he knows his brother will never be able to love her sister properly and it would be best that she was not in a relationship with him. Pretty much his brother is too selfish and will only cause her problems. (Honestly, he was ducking and dodging her, running away like a coward. His brother is the worst.) Prik says that it doesn't matter because his brother must love her sister. And I'm like ??? I get the whole social problem behind it since her sister was pregnant but I really wanted her sister to be able to find someone else that was better and more responsible. We see the brother change but he really pissed me off in the beginning of this lakorn. I found it hard for me to want to root for their relationship.
But besides that, its fun to watch Chakrit and Anne together. They have a lot of chemistry and I found that I like their characters.
I could not stand Nu. Out of all of the characters he annoyed me the most. I wanted to tell him that you need to remember your second lead status. It's not your job to harass the female lead. Your job is to make the male lead jealous.
I'm catching up right now. Though I think the leads have chemistry and it's fun to see them together, these cases drag on forever. And to top it off the cases don't seem intricate enough for them to take as long as they do.
I wanted to love this but I felt like most of the characters were irrational in a bad way. I wish there had been more sweet moments between the leads but there were not enough. It came too late in the show for me to believe that she would actually want to be with the male lead. I really hated when the male lead claimed that she was doing something with her brother too.
This drama was interesting. I thought the main couple was okay. I'm not a super fan of 'I fell in love with you at first sight' relationships. It just never felt real to me and I don't think the actors really did a good job of selling this relationship to me either. The actors weren't bad but they weren't great and I think it might have been because their characters are so bleh to begin with. Their relationship really takes a back seat when their kids come into the picture. They never really speak to each other again until the last episode which I found to be a little strange.
I felt so bad for Tawan. He really loved Clea but she was super obsessed with Kant. I do think he shouldn't have forced his feelings on Clea, but I thought the same about her too. She told him not to force his feelings on her but at the same time she was forcing her feelings on Kant. I actually think I would have found it more interesting if the story focused on this relationship more. Though Clea annoyed me, she was a much more interesting character than Mai was. The same with Tawan. I thought he was so adorable at the beginning of the lakorn.
I was so annoyed with Clea. She caused so many problems and even after all those years passed without her seeing Kant or her son, she still lied to Mai when she saw her. It annoyed me because I felt like she still did not learn her lesson. And though Kant did not love her, it bothered me that she would be willing to just leave her child behind like that.
Then to top it off at the last minute, she realizes that she loves Tawan when he's dying. It just made me upset. I'm like really, you're really going to realize that you loved him when he's dying.
Their children were cute together though. I still think it was a mistake for them to not give the adults more time together later on in the show, instead they kept making them miss each other most of the time.
I think the funniest thing about this drama is if Clea would have accepted that Kant did not love her that night at the party, she probably would have slowly fell in love with Tawan. Kant would have been with Mai and possibly later on in the future Suriyon and Pueng would have been childhood sweethearts.
Moral of the story: You have to accept if someone does not love you back.
This drama was a drag. The first episodes were good but it just started to drag on and on. It was really boring and though the main couple was cute, I started to get annoyed with them too. It never felt like they had real problems or obstacles. Even the jealousy, which I love in lakorns, was lacking in this. When they got jealous it would be pointless most of the time since their feelings for each other was so obvious. And the jealousy would go on and on for episodes. The female lead is fun and flirty but later on when she was giggling like an idiot it was really annoying. And I'm not referring to the times that she would play dumb for Panit.
I wasn't too crazy over the male lead. I actually found him selfish. I knew that he did not want her to go back but when he would force her not to leave, ignoring how sick she would get and that she would pass out too, I was completely turned off by this. I did not find this cute at all. It was really annoying and selfish to me. I'm like would you rather her die than be able to go back and see her family. I was happy that she got to see her mom but I would have liked if she got to say her peace with everyone before she decided to stay in the past but Luang would not allow that.
I also did not care for her friends much either, especially her ex-boyfriend.
But when He Han told Zi Jun he loved her, I knew it was real. He was ready to marry her then and truly would have no regrets. A part of me wanted them to be together, but the other part knew it was wrong.
