I liked this in the beginning when Kin had memory loss. Pat and Tonnam were cute together, and I was actually looking forward to him getting his memory back. I thought it would be entertaining to see Kin play a little get back, but I wasn't expecting him to be so aggressive, considering that Pat and her family didn't do that much to him. Don't get me wrong. I totally see why he was upset with them, but at times when he humiliated Pat, it was overboard. The pool scene was the best example of this. I just thought it was too much, and I really hated his character then, especially since it was not called for and was disrespectful to his girlfriend. By the way, I knew that Kin was ultimately going to end up with Pat, but they could have at least made the relationship between him and Nicha believable but it isn't. It was frustrating watching Nicha fight to be in a relationship with Kin when it was clear that her heart wasn't in it and Kin's heart wasn't either. It just felt like they were dragging it out, and it was an unnecessary plotline because there was no real conflict and no real fallout would happen if Nicha and Kin had broken up. And it didn't help that the actress playing Nicha wasn't good. She was very bland with no screen presence.

Overall though, I thought this was quite boring once Kin gets his memories back. I didn't care for Nicha and Sebra's relationship, didn't care for Kin's childish bullying, and didn't care for the business plotline either. It was practically a chore getting through the second half because I didn't care for Kin and Pat's relationship. Son and Vill's natural chemistry together couldn't save this for me.

I started this a year ago but completely forgot about it. I'm glad I watched it again because though I wouldn't say I loved it, it was entertaining. I especially liked the beginning when they're on the island because that's where Son and Vill's chemistry gets to shine the most. And I really like Vill. I thought she shined as both Nid and Noi. I will admit that this becomes a very frustrating watch in the middle because of the abuse that Nid faced, to the point that I started to get irritated with San. I knew that none of it was his fault but it frustrated me that he was living a good life while Nid was going through hell. So much crazy shit was being thrown at Nid that I don't know how she didn't snap. But once we get past that, and Nid starts to fight back, the lakorn gets better. I just wish that San would have gotten his memories back sooner. Also, I actually liked the secondary couple here, which is surprising because I usually don't care for secondary couples and hit the skip button. But they were very cute together.

By the way, I hated the father. He was horrible. I can't believe he tried to absolve himself of all wrongdoing in the end and tried to blame it on Suvalee. Yeah, she was terrible, but the father was just as bad as her, considering he was the one who had insidious thoughts the moment he went to that island and first met Nid. I was especially irritated that he got to be with Marasee because he was undeserving of her. I wish she would have left him in the dust. He was a terrible person.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for summing up the story and comparing the two versions!I really do want to watch this original…
I loved this version! But unfortunately, when I tried to re-watch it, I couldn't find it on YouTube anymore. The episodes up there aren't available in my country, so if you're able to find it, please let me know! I would love to watch this again! And that scene was very romantic! Willy and Mam had amazing chemistry here.

I'm like you where I have taken to watching older lakorns without subs. So many of them are better than their remakes, but unfortunately, they don't get subbed. Luckily, like you, I've watched enough lakorns and picked up on a lot of Thai words that basic sentences with common words are easy for me to understand, and I usually can get the gist of everything else based on visual context.

While I was excited to see Mike and Mookda paired up again, I was slightly worried when I realized this was a rom-com lakorn. Sometimes, they tend to have too much comedy, till the point that I can't enjoy the romance. But despite that, I surprisingly had a good time with this. It's not perfect, but it was very enjoyable, especially in the second half. The selling point for me was the leads. I really like Mike and Mookda as a pairing. They are really cute together and play off each other very well. In the future, I would love to see them together in something more dramatic, like a revenge lakorn. It would be interesting to see how explosive their chemistry can be with a script that allows it.
On Talay Luang Apr 23, 2021
Title Talay Luang Spoiler
For the first few episodes, I was kind of bored. Though Talay was cute, there was something missing in the romance, and I found that I wasn't invested in the relationship between Moya and Talay. Their relationship wasn't terrible; it just didn't have a spark for me. Eventually, it did become more interesting though, especially in the second half where we meet Natee, and that's at the point where I really started to enjoy the lakorn. Natee and Moya were cute and fun together, and this is when I enjoyed the pairing between Mik and Sammy the most. It's a shame that Sammy isn't renewing her contract with Channel 7 again because, after this, I would have loved to see Mik and Sammy paired up again. By the way, Channel 7 seems to have a hard time keeping their stars.

Surprisingly, I actually felt bad for Korn. Don't get me wrong. He was crazy as hell, but I think I felt sympathy for him because he was genuinely in love with Moya, and he didn't have a chance whatsoever. Even when the sweet Talay was gone and the mean arrogant Natee was there, it was clear Moya's attention would never be on him. The dude was so far in the friend zone that I don't think it would have even mattered if Natee/Talay were around or not. But with that being said, the rest of his actions, especially towards Nune, were horrible. I felt bad for Nune and I really wish she hadn't died. The way her aunt and Korn were using her was so despicable. And that delusional asshole Danai was the worst. He raped her and had the audacity to claim he loved her after abusing her and making her miscarry. He was truly the worst.

Overall, I had a good time. The leads had nice chemistry, the romance in the second half was really cute, and despite the genre having amnesia, the leads didn't have too many unnecessary misunderstandings between them, which was refreshing. The only thing that truly irritated me was Korn popping back up again at the end of the last episode. So unnecessary and cheesy.

Title Hua Jai 2 Park Spoiler
This was a snooze fest for me. On paper, this sounds like an interesting story, but its execution leaves much to be desired. Por and Taew don't have enough chemistry. Chuck is a boring character, and Tawan is not the brightest. She makes some questionable choices and doesn't seem to see what's clearly in front of her. I thought the mistress plotline was stupid. I know it's a lakorn, so sometimes they have nonsensical setups but it made no sense to me why Chuck did not tell Tawan and Don about his plan. I kind of understood why he didn't tell the father. Rarn was so against Don that I knew he wouldn't be okay with Chuck's plan, but him telling Tawan and Don would have easily resolved stupid misunderstandings. But I guess the writers thought it was more interesting to have Tawan think Chuck wanted her as his mistress even though Chuck does absolutely nothing to showcase that. I think Tawan and Chuck being total opposites was good enough for conflict, and they could have easily still lived together without that useless storyline. Don was trash, and I was so pissed with how they glossed over and justified the fact that he raped Da. Again, I've watched enough lakorns that I should be numb to how careless they are with the topic of rape, but everyone's reaction to what happened to Da annoyed me. I felt like no one was truly upset on her behalf for the traumatizing thing that happened to her.

I feel like if this were written better, this would be an interesting drama. The idea of Chuck and Tawan's relationship is cute. I could even see more of a rom-com if they got rid of the mistress misunderstanding. As I said before, Chuck and Tawan already don't like each other, and I think it would have been interesting enough watching them have to live together while Tawan waited for Don to come back. If everyone else misunderstood their relationship, then they could have made that a gag. If they made a remake where they had people with better chemistry, and they changed up the story to make it interesting (whether they make it more dramatic or lighthearted), I would watch it.

if you're debating whether to watch the 2003 version or the 2017 version i'd definitely say watch the 2003 version…
There are quite a few problems I had with this version, but I definitely think the greatest offense was the change in Sumire's character. They literally robbed her of all the things that made her unique and reduced her to a bland awkward female lead.
On You're My Pet Mar 13, 2021
Title You're My Pet Spoiler
I'm a huge fan of the original, so when I started watching this, it took me about two episodes to push past my bias. The cool thing about adaptations is that they don't necessarily have to follow the original material, and sometimes the writers adapting it find a way to add more value to the story. So when I got to the second episode, and I realized this version was going the more standard sexy rom-com route, with quite a few changes to adapt to that theme, I accepted it and actually started to enjoy it. But once I hit around the halfway mark, it became clear to me that those changes weren't for the better.

First, this didn't need to be 16 episodes. Those last seven to six episodes dragged the story out to the point that I became frustrated with Sumire's character, who I had a hard time understanding and empathizing with in comparison to the original because of how differently she was written here. It's almost like the writers here failed to realize what makes Kimi wa Petto special, and that is Sumire's character. She's a beautiful, successful career woman who, despite being accomplished, struggles in both her love life and career because she doesn't fit the norm of what a Japanese woman is supposed to be. She's so strong and independent to the point that men feel inferior because of her accomplishments and unneeded because she has a hard time showing her vulnerable side. She's not weak enough or feminine enough, and she doesn't show her tears to anyone. She smokes cigarettes, and would rather watch pro-wrestling than go shopping. She is compared to an expressionless doll because she doesn't show her emotions easily. But this version of her character here, though sharing some of those qualities, is reduced to a borderline ditzy woman who is obsessed with having a romantic relationship. Most of the little quirks of her character that make Sumire a unique female lead is gone, and she's practically like any other awkward female lead who can't find love, rather than a female lead who doesn't fit within the socially acceptable norms of what a woman is supposed to be.

In here, Sumire became a character who didn't know herself, didn't know what she wanted, was obsessed with romance, and lacked a spine, losing her strong spirit. These changes changed her entire dynamic with Takeshi, which quite frankly is unacceptable. So much time is given to Hasumi, to the point that it was unbelievable that Sumire wound up with Takeshi because she spent entirely way too much time obsessing over Hasumi. In the original, Sumire does like Hasumi a lot, but it's also clear that her feelings for him pale in comparison to what she feels for Takeshi, while here, Sumire seemed more heartbroken over the end of her relationship with Hasumi than the possibility of her not being with Takeshi.

I think ultimately what made me dissatisfied with this version is the direction it went. It loses its uniqueness because it's too busy trying to be a standard romantic comedy, losing the essence of what makes Takeshi and Sumire's relationship different and unacceptable by society's standards beyond an age gap. The original is more about Sumire, not fitting into traditional socially acceptable norms, and she happens to meet Hasumi and Takeshi, the former who fits into what is sociably acceptable and the latter who doesn't. While this follows the more traditional route of a love triangle, by expanding Hasumi and Fukushima's roles, which felt more like a detriment to Sumire and Takeshi's relationship.

With that being said, everything isn't all bad. There were things I enjoyed, and some changes to the story that I liked. I enjoyed the cast too. Though I thought Koyuki's portrayal of Sumire was better and my favorite, I still enjoyed Noriko's performance. I just wasn't a fan of how she was written. I liked the chemistry that Noriko and Shison had, and I thought Shison was perfectly cast for the role. But unfortunately, the drama became repetitive and draggy, and I was constantly reminded that there was a better version of this.

This lakorn is like the love child of Samee Tee Tra and Plerng Boon, which Pope starred in the former, and Bella in the latter, and this lakorn has elements of them both with the divorced woman falling in love again with the good guy, and the gullible woman letting a nang rai live in her home with her husband. But I felt that this lakorn was not nearly as fun as its predecessors. Though Bella and Pope had chemistry, and it was nice to see them reunited again, I was bored by the obvious shenanigans of Nim. I hate when I have to suspend disbelief as to why the characters are having a hard time figuring out that characters like Nim, who had been evil the entire time, are of course still evil later on.

At first, I was frustrated with Pope's character, who was very similar to his character in Samee Tee Tra, a good guy who was so good to the point of being stupid. It frustrated me that he kept entertaining Nim, especially with him knowing Nim's hate for Aim and that she was purposely antagonizing Aim every chance she got. That's not even bringing up Aim's history with her husband continuously cheating on her, which you think he would keep in mind whenever Nim brought up some excuse to see him so she could throw herself all over him. Instead of telling Aim not to let Nim get in the way of their relationship, I felt he should have told himself that when everything could have easily been resolved with him simply telling Nim to leave firmly rather than the passive way he had been going about it.

Then it was Aim who irritated me next. This character is definitely not as nice as Bella's character in Plerng Boon, but by the time we get to those last episodes, they make her character as foolish as her in order to have Nim running around, attempting to kill Aim every chance she got. I will say I was happy that ultimately Nim died, and we didn't have to get a last-minute scene where everyone forgave her despite all the horrible things she had done, and Nim does some HORRIBLE things. I thought the plot against Max's father was particularly horrible, considering that a minor was involved with it.

Despite my complaints, the first half was good and Pope and Bella display their wonderful chemistry again. Some of the side couples are cute too. It's definitely entertaining, but I find that I have seen other lakorns have more batshit crazy plotlines that I actually enjoyed, while here, I just thought majority of the characters were stupid and that Nim was a pest.

"but his apology is not yours to accept"

Thank you!

I hate when people accept apologies on the behalf of the offended. It happens so often when it comes down to celebrities because fans are quick to accept apologies when their faves do wrong, but often, it's so easy for them to accept because they weren't offended nor the victim in those situations. At the end of the day, their apology isn't for you. It's not up to you to forgive them or absolve them of their wrongdoings. It's up to their victims, and it's within the victims' rights to seek justice, even if it's years later. Some people call it cancel culture, but I call it consequences with a dash of karma. It might not come immediately but it will eventually catch up with you.
When I first watched Love by Chance, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. So, I was very excited to learn they were having a second season, and then I heard about all the behind the scenes drama and realized that Saint wasn't coming back. Now, I'm going to be honest. Saint is not a good actor to me, and he seems even worse next to Perth, who is surprisingly a really strong actor. But I thought they had chemistry together, and I really liked the Ae and Pete relationship, so I thought it sucked that Saint wasn't coming back. Plus, I'm not too fond of sudden cast changes. But if I would have known I would have to suffer through watching THIRTEEN episodes of Ae being miserable, I would have gladly accepted a cast change, which made the most sense in light of Saint no longer being a part of the show. Why did MAME even think this was an option? Why did anyone think this was an option? It's terrible writing, and they should have just recasted him. I couldn't even appreciate Perth's acting because I was so tired of seeing him moping and crying the ENTIRE show.

Then we have Can and Tin, and to be honest, I never liked their couple. In the first season, I was definitely the oddball out, not really seeing the chemistry that other people saw. Their relationship and the writing itself just always seemed awkward to me. So imagine my surprise when I started the first episode and realized that they were starting their story over from the beginning-- which is just freaking stupid by the way. This is literally called Love by Chance 2, meaning that most people had to watch Love by Chance 1 before they watched this. All of the other storylines are literally starting from where we last left off and you decide to only start ONE couple over from the beginning. It's stupid.

The first few episodes were very boring because the scenes they reshot weren't better, and the new tidbits added weren't enough to warrant their story being started over again. On top of that, Plan is not a strong actor at all, and I think he fit better in the first season where he played a more secondary role. But since most of the focus is on him here, you can only notice the skills that he lacks. Sometimes, he just looks so uncomfortable. I'm so tired of giving actors passes on things they should be able to do, which is act. Plan literally looked like a dead fish at points when they had their kissing scenes. It was so awkward to watch. At least it looked like Mean was trying, whereas Plan looked like he wanted to be anywhere else. Ultimately, I just couldn't get into this couple nor their storyline.

And then we have Kla and No, a storyline that was equally as frustrating as Ae's storyline because it's a waste of time and the actors' talent, specifically Mark, who is a really good actor. But of course, he doesn't get to showcase that because their storyline is told in the dumbest way. I get it. I'm guessing that people were upset with the sexual assault storyline, and that's why they decided to pretty much skip majority of their storyline from the book. I don't think it's a bad thing at all, and it's actually a good thing. But let's say that MAME did realize their storyline started off wrong, then why not just start it over like you started Tin and Can's relationship over? Why not change the beginning of their relationship to something consensual? Instead, we had to watch No dance around Kla, and it was boring as hell.

As for the other couples, I didn't really care for them. I always thought Tum and Tar shouldn't be in this series and that the time given to them could have just been given to another couple like Kla and No.

Overall, I thought this was terrible and didn't live up to the first Love by Chance at all. It's like MAME managed to ruin everything that was good about the first season. I felt like so much was wasted, and I think what frustrated me the most was that it was obvious that this could have been so much better.

Don't you feel like your opinions is a bit biased though ? Against Americans
I'm an American myself. There is no bias here, nor disrespect, just my viewpoint from what I have seen. Majority of the time, we only watch our own content, and if we do watch content from other countries, they are usually from English-speaking countries. This is not to say that we don't watch foreign content, but in comparison to some other countries, we don't as much.
lo_ve Feb 23, 2021
I have no problem with this because I enjoy seeing how different countries infuse their unique spin and culture with the original content. I'm actually pretty excited for it and hope they have a good cast. For me, it doesn't matter if it sucks because I can always watch the original again. But it does suck for those who have no idea it's a remake, and won't get to see how good Someday Or One Day is.

I think the only remake I've been against is Train to Busan, and that's because I KNOW it's not going to be as good or better than the original. Also, I feel that Americans don't watch as much foreign content as other countries do and that's why they are always remaking stuff.
On Miracle of Love Over the Horizon Feb 19, 2021
I enjoyed the first half, but overall I felt this was too long. And the second half is such a chore to get through, that I couldn't remember any of the things that I liked in the beginning. I was hesitant in watching this because when lakorns have mythical horror elements, I have a tendency to avoid them because they come off very goofy and cheesy. But despite the terrible graphic effects, I enjoyed it up until the halfway point and then I started to get tired of majority of the characters. Ai was very annoying and bratty, and though sometimes bratty characters can be a joy to watch, she wasn't one of them. Surprisingly, I felt more chemistry between Khep and Tara than Khep and Ai. Khep and Ai's arguing and flirting shtick got real old real quick . The memory loss plotline didn't help either, and just made me not care for their relationship at all.

Though Ai got on my nerves, the character I disliked the most was Chris. He was so annoying and controlling and was undeserving of both Ai and Kwan. Chris and Kwan would have been cute together (they were at times) if it weren't for the fact that Chris spends most of the time treating Ai like a toy that he doesn't want to lose. After all that time spent with Kwan, the moment Ai gets back from the other dimension, he completely drops Kwan and tries to force a relationship with Ai again. Kwan really deserved better than him, and I didn't want them to end up together. I'm tired of the trope of the secondary female character ending up with the second male lead who is obsessed with the female lead and treats them like garbage until the last episode.

As for the plot, it could be better with better execution. Even the dimension storyline could have been good, but it just drags.

I'm looking forward to this as well. I'm happy that we get the whole story too. I was confused at first when the…
En of Love was confusing for me too until I read the novel, and when I went back to watch it again, it made it more enjoyable for me because I knew what happened in between the scenes that we didn't get to see. Definitely, out of all three books, Love Mechanics was the one that deserved the full adaptation, in my opinion, not only because of the great chemistry between Yin and War but because their relationship was more complex, and they needed their entire story told so viewers could better understand why certain moments happen throughout the show.

I definitely would suggest reading the book, and I totally understand why you had to quit because that first chapter, in particular, is very explicit and gruesome (which I hope they find a way to fix this in this adaptation by making it consensual). But luckily after that, every intimate moment between them from then on is consensual. Though I will warn that though the second sex scene is consensual, it might be disturbing for some. Once you read the book, you'll also understand Vee better, who doesn't purposely try to hurt Mark. He's just an idiot sometimes.
On Love Mechanics Oct 22, 2020
After reading the novel, if this adaptation closely follows it, I know this comment section will be in shambles. The amount of hate Vee will get is going to be crazy. I feel bad for poor Yin.

I'm definitely looking forward to this, and I'm happy that we'll be able to see their entire relationship, which is very complex compared to Tossara and TILS. Since it's 16 episodes, I wonder if this will include the second book, though YinWar is so popular right now that I wouldn't be surprised if they did try to give this a second season.
