Not surprised, this is from the director of A Familiar Stranger and The Killer is Romantic. This director is already popular among mini dramas for his great shooting and ability to make a pretty drama within little budget.

There is lots of focus and emphasis on the bromance here much more than the movies I almost feel this is a danmei masquerading as a wuxia I think danmei BL cravers can watch this after the disappointment of A League of Nobleman. Just ignore the romance line if you don't like it

SSFV is just a low budget wuxia from what I heard on the net. I have better faith in Lu Yang's productions

Lol fine up to you. Just for record Xianxia shows always have the highest budgets because they have lots of CGI compared to wuxia or palace. Fox Fairy use the latest LCD technology.

Wuxia with highest budget recently is Blood of Youth and it's only 200 million with all the CGI and costumes(this is S level) so 300 mil for wuxia is quite expensive.
