Title Red Balloon Spoiler
Somewhat mid.
The extroverted MC was lowkey ignoring the other MC's boundaries (when he said he didn't want to be photographed - he kept following the guy around and taking pictures & then continuously appearing in his path for other reasons despite the lack of social reciprocity from him).
The kiss scene also was problematic, as the MC goes in for a kiss, gets pushed off and told off, but then decides to go in and try to kiss him again - this kind of portrayal only adds to rape culture. No means no! I know, they often play it off as "well, but deep within him he wAnted to be kissed", and yet it was so easy to portray it as consensual from the get-go. The show chose to romanticize that kind of behaviour.
There were some of those cringe cliché BL moments as well, though not as awkward as they usually are.
Overall, while apparently the themes of the show are mimicking real life gay struggles, the characters themselves felt very surface level and not too thought out. Perhaps the writers were more concerned with getting the plot right, while neglecting the nuance that the characters deserved.
There were also no content warnings for the suicide attempt, and it also baffles me why they chose to show that scene at all with the thud included, while just moments ago they chose to portray the bullying/attack scene via shadows and sounds only.

On Girl from Nowhere Season 2 Feb 18, 2025
Conflicted about this season.

I see the gain by switching it up and introducing a character that is more 'revenge' steered than 'morale' and 'karma' steered. It gets to explore both versions and therefore question whether revenge can be justified if it ends up exceeding the original suffering and/or doesn't even teach the lesson.
For example, the first episode has Nanai be pregnant and he gets to experience all the things he put the girls through, and even then at the end, when he begs Nanno to stay with him and the baby - for them to be together and raise the child, the irony of him never offering the same to the girl who was impregnated by him and kept the baby is still very present. The reversal of roles had a certain satisfaction to it as the attitude surrounding the topics of pregnancy and abortion from men are very much drawn from real life. That episode does not focus on the 'victim' and any need for revenge as she herself no longer needs anything from Nanai and has moved on, but Nanai still gets hit with karma. That is Nanno's form of punishment.
Yuri's punishments were more brutal and more about the end result, which was essentially death for the abuser, not caring that in that process more abusers were created and subsequently not punished, because it wore the mask of 'revenge' or as it is with SOTUS episode - how violence feeds more violence.

However, this season also had a lot more gore and at times (especially episodes 3, 4,5) felt like some sort of pain p0rn - having that pain for the sake of showing off pain rather than to have actual benefit on the plot. Some of the assaults could have been suggested, but not shown in full. The same way in movies someone may get shot, but the viewer only hears the gunshot and sees a blood splatter on the surface instead of the actual body. Yet this season really went all out to a point I had to turn away during multiple scenes and wait for those them to pass. But that could also be due to my distaste for such gory content.

Title Squid Game Season 3 Spoiler
I thought "NO. 246" died in season 2 🤔
There are theories that the guard didn't shoot him fatally and is going to save him. However, when I watched the scene it looked like he was being shot in the stomach area (the gun was too low to be in the shoulder), so just gotta wait and see. But I also think they wouldn't have set up that whole storyline with his kid and the guard if it wasn't going to be utilized in some way (considering he has barely had any screen time during the games).

Title The Judge from Hell Spoiler
This started off intriguing and unique, then it got annoying. Why? The romance.I liked the character's model given…
Agreed 100%! I'm at episode 8 and considering to pause watching it or drop it, because the romance and the unrealistic humanity is becoming cringe, but I do like the premise/demon lore.

it's depressing to see people criticize the age gap between two consenting adults just because the FL is older.…
Personally, I have no problem with seeing older people date, in fact, it's quite refreshing to see more mature people resolving their issues and developing a relationship.
But I think the issue is that in the case of 25-year-olds portraying 16-18-year-olds, both actors' looks usually match each other's age.
However, in this show the female lead looks much older than the male lead. I assume their characters are supposed to be very close in age, yet the male lead looks so young in comparison to the female lead.
They could have somehow highlighted in the show that the male lead looks much younger than the age he is / how most cannot believe he is much older due to his youthful looks, and so it would make more sense. Also, considering that he had/has an eating and sleep disorder, that should have affected the way he looks (not as ' fresh' and healthy looking).

Title Strong Girl Bong Soon Spoiler
I know I'm in the minority here, but not only did I not like this drama, I actively dislike it. The first thing…
I agree! Also Ahn Min Hyuk often overplays his pain and basically blames Do Bong Soon, when he was the reason he got hurt. Like, the hospital scene after he got stabbed - he keeps acting all hurt when he's not in any pain + makes it all seem like it was her fault, when he was the one who had an illegal GPS on her, and found her in the warehouse, then just stood there not calling the police while she was fighting the guys, and then decided to run into the guy instead of stopping the guy from stopping (he literally teched Do Bong Soon self-defense and that must have included protection against knives, no???)
Also, the casual portrayal of domestic abuse against her father by her mother, that is just laughed off for jokes, even though if genders were reversed and the mother was walking around with a red eye, it would never be played for jokes.

Title Water Boyy Spoiler
The show makes me cringe so much.
Main characters have abrely any interaction and when they do it's some cheesy moment where Waii is all angry and Apo is there to talk to him. No chemistry, nothing!
I undertood the idea for the rape scene, but now that some episodes have passed, it's the only physical interraction they had.
I'm so disappointed with this show - the acting, the cringey pauses, the useless storyline. I'm considering dropping this show, because even if Apo and Waii has some interaction, it's not going to be well built up.
