Really loved it. I'm not disappointed by the ending, it's different from a novel but still as enjoyable for me. It's fun how they managed to somewhat reconstruct JDJ's accomplishments in YHW's life, I can appreciate the twist (2 more eps would be better, too rushed). The repentance explanation is a total joke tho, it's so incoherent and far-fetched that it doesn't even make sense. However, this drama brought so many great emotions that I can easily look past this minor bump, nothing is perfect. I will definitely rewatch it.

PS. So happy they didn't went deep into the romance side, it was just enough to tell the story. I enjoyed this focus on twisted financial games.

The look in the eyes of Lee Sung Min is.. I have no words to describe, it's everything. I felt it through my soul. Realization, powerlessness, not believing.. I had tears in my eyes. What an amazing actor he is!

No, the ending isn't open, it's very clear, except for the reasoning behind actions (well, for me that is)

tbh I didn't find it that dark, except for that eye scene in ep8, iykyk. Wasn't boring for me either, but the pace is really, really weird, especially from around ep 4 and on. Kinda very slow, then something happens quickly in a burst, skipping timeline and then slow again. Cat's 3d but it was very uncomfortable to watch, more than ppl scenes. FL is cute. I've no idea what's her reasoning for doing that in in the end though. Or rather, I can think of several reasons, and none are satisfactory. Idk but the ending feels somewhat.. underwhelming? Also, this would've probably been more powerful as a long movie. KYK and KHL are really good actors though, their characters weren't easy..

I paused at ep 4 when airing to wait for the show to finish, then was away for several months and binged it just recently. Can someone please give me a short rundown on what the actual f is all this drama about mistreated cast and idiotic vol 2? I've read Mami's spoilers on Vegas and Kim being totally out of character - and I'm most definitely not accepting this. My head hurts trying to put these pieces together.

As Tichi mentioned, Payu and Rain have a textbook dom/brat sub relationship indeed and it's about power dynamics. Bdsm includes a huge psychological aspect (DS in this case) that may not necessarily be accompanied by the ropes, floggers and whatever else is portrayed in a general "bdsm" title. Also, it absolutely doesn't mean that dom can't be sweet. Actually, Payu's character is written (and played!) so well it makes me wonder if the script writers have a first hand knowledge or just did an extensive research lol. Funny enough, this title doesn't have a single bdsm or ds tag, but it really delivers, while many of those with tags fail miserably.

No problem, I think it's about time for me to rewatch it, then I'll post a review, I've been asked to several times already :)

A short FAQ for those curious to check it out, pls decide for yourself:

1. imo, no one does cruel and batshit crazy like Japan. This one's NOT beautiful, it's very dark, painful, realistic and basically soft(?) p*rn. If you think Addicted / KinnPorshe rape scenes in novels were dark, this is much darker. Also, I do cringe comparing this to those bl novels, yes, but gotta give a reference.

2. Whatever "BL list/recommendation" leads you to this movie, please, do not watch it if you have no relation to/understanding of the psychology behind bdsm. Or the desire to understand (and no, 50 SOG is not bdsm, it's bs). You can, of course, but that would be a waste of your evening. And then you'd come back here to write about how toxic and wrong this movie is when it's just very much not your cup of tea.

3. It ends with a beautiful non-bdsm sex scene but before that there's a red sea of pain and violence. If you're here just for smth "hot and steamy" and must watch, then just skip to the end. Or proceed directly to the horny jail at prnhub lol.

4. I like this movie a lot and watched it several times. Tbh, this "solution" could have failed, but he had to try it indeed, nothing else would be powerful enough to work.

Glad to see there are people who get it tho. I was honestly expecting a wall of hate here.

Porsche's seemingly bi but totally unable to get hard with women after Kinn, tho he tried, so idk. And as far as i remember Kinn comes as totally gay, he even had a boyfriend before (which ended badly and triggered a non-stop series of one night stands). They're also discussing it among bodyguards. Porsche is very thick about it and asks around, Pete tries to make some hints and then just plots it for Porsche to intrude upon Kinn and his current boytoy to see with his own eyes.

He is a villain, no doubt about that. Not the only villain tho. In the novel Vegas is very complicated, tormented (with suicidal thoughts) and fcked up, has lots of faces, very crafty, deceitful and a sexual sadist. There's a soft and very caring side to him too (reserved only to his brother and later on - to Pete). He's generally a good match with Pete too for many reasons.

I wonder how many will think Vegas is still cute and gorgeous when he shows all his colors 😏

Same here. Watching several shows now but nothing occupies my mind as much. This hit deep on different levels. And I miss Yok / DanYok most of all.

I mean some ppl don't tolerate horrors, so it wouldn't make sense for them to go and complain about every horror out there? So why here huh? Just skip, there are Trapped or Long Time No See on a much lighter side already.

There are even much darker things out there, like Double Mints, but no one's complaining there? I'd better stop though, or ppl will move there for real 🙄

Tricky question, every one finds it in their own time. Some knew it (or suspected it) almost right from the start. In ep 10 some characters realize it for sure, and the first "official" proof (like in words) happens in the end of ep 11

[personal opinion]
KP is for sure vv high budget and worth watching and all, but so not a replacement for Not Me (for me, lol). It's just.. they're different. Not Me is way more realistic and relationship-driven (yes, despite all those inconsistencies, being rushed and a fairytale ending). And KP is a hot high-quality fantasy take on a mafia plot (with a ton of plot holes btw, but we're not watching it for a flawless logic).
If done right, VegasPete story will be the most realistic thing there (but it won't fit well with the majority since it's very dark).

That's not to diminish KP in any way, it's worth watching and an eye candy for sure, but these two shows are incredibly different to me. Not Me will always hold a special place in my heart. And I'm also going to have this emptiness inside for some time.

I absolutely agree with you, was going to write the same thing. I also think people are overexploiting the "toxic" tag now. Like things can either be fluffy or toxic, no shades whatsoever inbetween. Well, people are not robots, they make mistakes, they have inner monsters and they overdo things often. I'm not saying "abuse is good", no freaking way. But there're many forms of acceptable, as long as it makes people involved happy.
