No villains in this story
I am so glad we got a K-drama that tells such a grounded, realistic story. From start to finish, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the entire cast delivers incredible performances. I found myself resonating a bit with every single character. One of the strongest aspects of the show is how it portrays long-term relationships. It beautifully captures the hard truth that just because you spend years with someone, it doesn’t mean the relationship is indestructible. As someone who went through a similar 8-year relationship where we both changed drastically, I deeply appreciated the message that a relationship can end, yet you can still cherish that person for the time you shared.
The drama also does an excellent job exploring the emotional toll of deeply intertwined family dynamics. It touches on the heavy guilt that comes with acting as the family buffer, and how creating strict boundaries is sometimes the only way to protect your peace and start fresh—even when no one is necessarily the "villain."
Overall, it avoids typical K-drama tropes to offer a profoundly real look at love, emotional baggage, and the difficult but necessary choices people make to finally write their own story.
